Nah it was only single ply - what a rip off!!
I had a guy send me some cricket cards last week in a white envelope. He protected them well..............they came wrapped in toilet paper.

Also not sure how the bubbles protect from the rain so team bags all the way for me
I do not have time to read every reply here this morning but here is one reason why you should never send cards in envelopes !!!!
One of my relatives is involved in the postal system and from what I am told, all plain envelope mail are run through a sorting machine and padded mail bags do not
(Being run through a machine is probably not the best way for your cards to travel)

I had an interesting one a while ago from overseas. Received in bubble mailer so no worries there. But I had bought 2 cards. They were both in a penny sleeve each, in between 2 toploaders. Now I know this is a good way to send a handful of cards sometimes, but why not put 1 card in 1 toploader, and the other card in the other toploader??
i just received a card between two bits of cardboard and in a white envelope
Well in the country next door that is much better than Australia, the bubble mailers themselves are kinda plasticy, so that help protect from rain. Also rather than rain soaking through a plain envelope it's got further to go (through bubbles) so it's all-round a better option.
yep, i worked in a mail sorting facility in the central west of NSW for a while. those machines are brutal if you get a jam up..
bubble mailers are sorted by hand. they are 'placed/thrown' into bin corresponding with their desination, but its far less savage than the machine.
if its an absolute must you send in a PWE, send it in a big square one. the sorting machine cant handle these..
but bubble mailers are the best !
That was me, i am pretty sure its not against site rules (it wasnt a trade) and was intended to surprise LOL, glad you got it buddy.Well here is a packaging story I hope never to see repeated on one of my trades. I sent a couple of freebies to a collector, packaged as I described above............well today I get that bubble mailer back and it was marked RTS for return to sender............I think WTF............anyhow I open it up to find different cards that I had packaged in the first place. So, the other collector has opened my package, removed the cards and sent me a card back using all the stuff I sent (packaging materials) and was too cheap to pay for postage so they just taped the mailer back up again and marked it RTS...........how cheap is that................
