Because I missed the boat on the epic 7 page about whether to leave a neg or not thread I just wanted to add my 2 cents in a calm way.

My only beef with sending between cardboard and not in a {bubble} envelope is a) that it's against the clear site rules but b) (and most importantly to me) bubble mailers have extra protection against things like RAIN.

That's something quite important to keep in mind (especially since our summer has not been much of a summer at all...).

Rules are put in place for good reason.
I understand that cards can be protected in all sorts of ways, and most people genuinely try hard to protect them, but you have to consider all possibilities, and if there are rules in place those possibilities have probably already been considered.

Mods please don't consider this thread as trying to start anything, I just want people to understand that everything needs to be considered when packaging properly.

Ideally, the cards should be in protective holders (such as toploaders), inside a team bag (if possible, just for extra protection against movement and weather), possibly between cardboard and inside a bubble mailer. I can't see much happening to them when they are that well protected.

Have a good one everybody.

Agree with the above. I got a card thru ebay no card board nothing just put straight in a white envelope and now the card is damaged really bad.

I sent my last cards to a member on this forum in a top loader, two pieces of cardboard taped up that the poor person at the other end will have fun breaking it open and also a mail bubble small bag. Maybe i went overboard but at least the person can see i was trying to protect the cards as much as i could.

I usually send an advance apology as I tend to wrap it around bubble wrap and sticky tape it to hell

Well said Graeme and I couldn't agree more.

you gotta be careful how much tape and that you put on, sometimes its tough to get it off whilst not damaging the card :)

Yeah I re-use the white decoy cards from packs by taping one on either side of the top loader, which also allow me to write a note and attach smiley face :)

I found adding thick cardboard or bubble wrap often made the bubble mailer too thick to pass as a small parcel, the decoy cards are perfect thickness for added protection imo.

In the case that was brought up... we can all see he had the right intentions, just went a different way that is familiar to him.

I'm sure we all know now that Hairy's way is THE way ;)

Agree, I tend to sell more than one card so I post in a two piece plastic container so the cards cannot get wet and would be hard pressed to get damaged, it's worth it for peace of mind. Even if I'm a few bucks out of pocket it's worth it.

With protecting cards I place the card in a sleeve then a top loader. I put that top loader into a team bag with a piece of matt board the framers use and then I tape the team bag closed. I can see no way that can be damaged by AUPOST in a bubble mailer. If it's an expensive card the only extra bit of rigid protection I use is to cut a second piece of matt board that will fit snug into the bubble mailer, I then tape the previous mentioned packaged item to this piece of board. Minimal tape used, others can recycle my matt board if they wish and no tape anywhere near the card.

I always recommend taping shut the bubble mailer, I have had quite a few arrive here opened so the tape helps prevent this...........I think if you follow guidelines such as these then no one will ever have trouble. You can recycle most everything except for the team bag and the bubble mailer and lets face it if you buy them in bulk they are only a few cents each anyway.

Also i think if your a regular member here and dealing with a new member you should take the time to explain whats expected. Tak35bne did it with me on one of my first deal and it was appreciated. I always make sure i do the same thing.

A simple rule I live by when packaging, protect the card(s) as if you were the one receiving them. If you would be unhappy about receiving a card the way you have packed it, you need to start again!

In other words, don't do to others what you don't want others do to you, Right? :)

Well here is a packaging story I hope never to see repeated on one of my trades. I sent a couple of freebies to a collector, packaged as I described above............well today I get that bubble mailer back and it was marked RTS for return to sender............I think WTF............anyhow I open it up to find different cards that I had packaged in the first place. So, the other collector has opened my package, removed the cards and sent me a card back using all the stuff I sent (packaging materials) and was too cheap to pay for postage so they just taped the mailer back up again and marked it RTS...........how cheap is that................

Bloody genius, best part is that he didn't break any of the site rules by doing that!

I had a guy send me some cricket cards last week in a white envelope. He protected them well..............they came wrapped in toilet paper.
