Card Of The Week

SO I've had an idea (hopefully it works).
The idea is to get you looking through your collection and loving the hobby.
Each week (if it goes well), I will post a new subject/ theme so you can pick out a card or set for it. Probably not the best explanation. But, for this week the theme will be:
THE SET OR CARD THAT GOT YOU INTO COLLECTING!!!

To get it started here is mine.
Might sound a bit weird but the 2005 Herald Sun cards, yes I know they aren't the greatest cards or worth much at all but it was just getting all your favourite players and all the good cards and looking through the small album with no spare spots.
There it is, lets get a bit of talk back into this forum!

Mine was probably Sam Mitchell Star Wildcard from Teamcoach 2008 because it was the 1st or 2nd year I started collecting it and I pulled it in my first couple of packs ever and it was my team!

The first cards/stickers I ever collected were the 1990 stickers. I remember the players still had the old VFL logo on their guernseys. The following year I collected them again, and was keen on collecting the 'new' team in the comp, which I then began barracking for, the mighty Crows.

Well this might possibly show my age but as an eleven year-old - so we are talking 1987 - a school mate showed me some Hawthorn Scanlens cards that he had......I think he tried to sell them to me but I was a tight-arse even then and told him to bugger off.

However they looked fantastic, like nothing I had seen before. I just went on to www.footycards.com.au to reminisce actually!

...and from there my collecting days began!

It was 2009 teamcoach for me. I Brought a heap in 2009 whilst playing in tac cup and then stopped after that. Then was cleaning room in 2012 and found the cards and decided to finish the set and it all took off from there!! Funny enough I never finished the set as found team collecting much more exciting than set collecting haha

For me, it was in 2010 when one day I got three packs of Teamcoach, which contained an Eagles silver, gold and Magic Wildcard! I was absolutely stoked, and then to top it off a few weeks later I got a box. In the first 8 or so packs I got a Buddy Magic Wildcard and I thought that was pretty good, then second last pack I got an Embley Star Wildcard! I couldn't believe my luck, and from then on I started collecting everything Eagles! Those two wilds still hold a special place in my collection

I started collecting in 1994 and 95 I pulled my 1st ever sig in 95 was dermot brereton tribute signature, then pretty much stopped in 97 as I started chasing girls and all that, then at start of last year I bought some 1994 select gold cards at a market as they brought back good memories from when I started, and it's all snowballed from there I have gone nuts buying boxes and cases every chance I get, I have an 18 month old son who I figured would get it all 1 day and it's something I can do with him in a few years, I see no end in site loving it

In the mid 70, s at school. I can still remember the smell of the Scanlens bubble gum. The smell lingered on the cards for weeks later.
I got back into collecting 7 or 8 years ago.
Then the madness really started.
