So now all the hype has died down......what does everyone think of this set?
Is it worth the $1400 pricetag?
The old Footycards latest release made me a very tidy profit so I have some money to burn and was thinking of buying a set of these....what do you think guys?
I bought and on-sold a few of these sets to various guys on OCT (including Owen .... sorry mate) and all I can say is that it's a good thing we got a much better price than the RRP. I started by randomly opening a set for myself and the first thing evident was the cards had moved all over the place as the album sleeves they used were just plain wrong. They stuck two cards in one large sleeve, so during transit a bunch of the cards moved about and some no doubt got dinged. This is made worse with the knowledge that the supplier first encountered a problem where the entire sleeve came loose from the albums, spilling all the cards, due to poor adhesive used by the album manufacturer (Australia Post, I believe). They went back to the manufacturer to be fixed and no-one thought of taking the opportunity of fixing the type of sleeve used as well. Ironically, the way they packaged the much cheaper facsimile set was a lot neater, with conventional 9 pocket sleeves and a simple yet elegant album.
Another issue is that the quality of the signatures on some cards were not very good.
The positive I take from this purchase is that the set does leave me with 18 original limited edition autographed cards which cost roughly $61 each, which isn't too bad!
As you can see by my mailday, I decided to buy a set of Nazim
Although no dinged cards some of the signatures were scratched.....a little disappointing but considering I did not pay full retail and presentation box was MUCH better than I thought I still feel it was a good purchase!
That said I bought BOTH the original Signature set AND the Facsimilie set and I am happy enough with the original Signature set so if anyone is after a Facsimilie set MUCH cheaper than the retail price let me know as I'll sel you mine
