Hi guys - this is my first post and I am not exactly IT savy. My short BIO is I started collecting NBA cards in the early 90's with the SHAQ 'explosion'. Like most of you I stopped collecting in the late 90's when it was 'not cool anymore' (I was smart enough to keep my cards though!). I got serious, got a job, married & had kids. When moving my stuff out from my old house a came across a box and what did I find? My album with some great cards. Out of curiosity I checked ebay and saw what once again the hobby picked up. There was 'game used', auto's and all these other great cards. I decided to buy a box - my first one in a long time - hot prospect 2007/08. By luck what did I pull? A Kevin Durant auto/game used. It was on! And I have not looked back every since.

I started buying boxes from Ebay - 1, 2, 3 at the time. I then located a dealer in America that sold boxes pretty check. The only catch was I needed to buy 20/30 boxes at a time to justify what I was going to spend on postage.

The dealer is Adam & Dave's card world. The link is for those interested:

If anyone can tell me where I can get boxes cheaper after having a look it will be greatly appreciated. I am also looking at Pittsburgh Sport Cards.

My preference, of course, is to buy from Australia but the prices would have to be cheaper then those I purchase from America. I have a pretty big collection and often sell my doubles on Ebay. Happy to trade - just let me know who your favourite player is!

I guess the most exciting thing for me is my boys are getting to the age where I can start buying them boxes (Any Jordan pulls will be mine of course :)).

Thanks guys

Ok mate a few things first.

Where are you located?

You will find it hard to locate boxes with cheaper prices than Dave and Adams.
As Some/Most of the Aussie Box sellers get thier boxes from the Above.
(and obviously they need to make money as well)

Perth: Terry is a member on this site http://www.a1cardsandgaming.com.au/

Adelaide: Mr paparazzi aka Brett is a member on this site and sells boxes in Adelaide at the markets

Card zone in Melbourne http://www.cardzone.com.au/index.cfm/Home

Carabian or Dandenong markets http://www.caribbeangardens.com.au/market/

Chris www.cardsinfinity.com (this guy can open your boxes for you on video and post it up on youtube, then send you the cards, which makes it cheaper on postage)
You can also buy direct from him just send him a email.

Westriot: Gary i think http://stores.ebay.com.au/Westriot-NBA-Cards-Cases-and-Boxes

Dacardworld.com is where i and many other on this site buy our boxes from.

We do try to look after the Aussie retailers as much as we can, even if its $10-20 that they make on a box
Helping out the Aussies guys is always appreciated

Let me know if you need any more info

Thanks for your reply! Located just out of Newcastle - have been using Adam & Dave's for about 2 years - they are starting to bump up the prices dramatically over the past couple of months - even though the prices are still low we obviously get hit by postage costs. In relative terms I could buy about 20 boxes for $350 (not inc postage) and now it is about $600. Aussie dollar being high helps though! Just found Pittsburgh Sports Cards the other day & they have some cheap boxes but high postage. Probably seems a bit nerdy but I have written to both Panini & Upper Deck for lists of wholesale sellers who will post to Australia. Panini is getting back to me and I will post details once I check the sellers out. Upper Deck is useless and treats its customers with distain so I don't expect a response.

Set up an account with Ship My Cards. buy your boxes and have them sent to those guys. Usually, once I have enough to justify sending home, I put a call out on my local card pages (FB) and get a few collectors to ship home together. You can also buy your singles and have them shipped and stored there.

On another note, I have many sealed boxes and also a large collection. Completely open to trading and I'll teach you some tricks of the trade because your story, sounds exactly the same as mine :)
