Bulldogs sign England star Graham

" I tend to disagree a bit. YES I too am shattered Idris is going BUT just think back a few years when they had all their eggs in one basket with SBW and Mason. It took ages to get back on track. Injuries or other probs can derail the whole production. Dogs have a lot of great players (not superstars) and therefore a great team. They had one contentious call up in the test team and may get 3 at most in Origin. I reckon it's good for the club in terms of Telstra premiership. They also now have depth and can cope with injuries etc much better "

a few years ago the bulldogs had players such as SBW, mason, omeily, etc...these players had strong personalities and a sort of ego that would have created some tension and a sense of focus on ' who gets paid more' in the team, rather than focus just on the footy...in my view i see jamal as a young, respectful and caring individual especially towards his team mates....you can not compare jamal's overall general personality traits to the likes of mason, matuia, anasta, SBW.....in terms of injuries, every team in the nrl has high risks for injuries to there players, it is almost inevitable in a sense and can happen at any time during the season....

I ABSOLUTELY AGREE. I spent some with Jamal and his mum just before his Dogs contract when he was competing at a world junior level in athletics. It appears the attention has not changed his demeaner which is fantastic. I think the young single egos mentioned above created probs we all know and constantly get reminded of. I think "the family club" is coming back together with Ryan at the helm. With family to ground players, they are less chance to be in trouble. A few players in the Dogs outfit are in this situation and the ship appears steady IMO

Spot on. For example, Idris doesn't have his own name tattooed across his back. The money is being spent more evenly across the team now, they've learned from their mistakes it seems. (I hope) An injury to one soft superstar isn't going to derail the season anymore.

back to the signing of graham, i think the bulldogs should have focused on the resigning of jamal idris i can not believe the bulldogs could have let him slip out of there hands....he is and will be a superstar of the game and im pissed of that the bulldogs couldnt even match the rival offer from the titans....i heard the bulldogs offered him 200k for the next 4 years and expected jamal to sign based on loyalty..........

I hear your frustrations, no one likes loosing a star but in reality the Dogs offerred him very, very good money approx $380k a season but could not match the $500k a year + TV show the Titans have paid for him.

I tend to agree more with Mischa's and DamoG's thinking:

Idris is a Rookie and only 20, yes a superstar with a cult following but in a team / squad wanting to compete for a Premiership you can't (as said above) pay him $500k a year in my opinion he is not worth it.......yet

Cheers

games are won by superstars...when a game is all even stevens, thats when a superstar steps up and shines for the team...in my opinion jamal is one of those superstars for the bulldogs,.....idris isnt like a rookie hes had enough experience, its his 3rd year in the nrl and still very young and very talented...he has yet to show his full potential (both in defence and attack) and yet he gets selected for the nsw and australian team....come on, this guy is and will always be a superstar, the doggies should have matched the offer from the titans and kept jamal.....in my opinion jamal is worth 500k, if hes not why would the titans pay that much for him???!!.......because they know jamal is a top player at a young age and a very level headed young individual...hes a great investment to a team
