brand new car !!!

Ye remembered that richo...when i checked out the 206.....servicing and parts did tend to be a bit more pricey for the euro cars i was told.....Did you take it back to a dealer for servicing bud ?

Yeah for the first few servicing we did but the Peugeot 206 has been out a while now so repco and other brands all make their after market parts so you can just go to normal garages for servicings. My wife gets over 700km per tank ! Very nippy and stylish car and not a bad price :)

My Toyota Celica isn't quite as good on fuel but it is a dream to drive and been VERY reliable.......we will probably look at buying another Toyota or Mazda if & when we buy a new car :)

my partner and i are getting a mazda 3 at the start of next year, very good on fuel. im pretty sure thats under 20 grand now mate..up to you hope it all goes well :)

Thanks micki...correct mate...only just under tho....mazda was another that was recommended and 2 guys from work have a mazda 3.....personally i find them ugly but thats just my visual outlook... the wife wasnt keen on the shape also, thats the only reason that it got the flick.

This is great ...lots of suggestions, help, reccomendations etc.....Its test drive time on saturday so see what she thinks of the chosen few.
thanks again all

So what are the chosen few Steve ?

TOYOTA YARIS
SUZUKI SWIFT
HYUNDAI GETZ
PEUGEOT 206 XR

Thats pretty much whats its come down to at this stage..all have there good and bad points but overall worth a look mate....but the final decision is hers...

Cool, do you think you could give us a summary of what you thought about each car.....we are sort of looking at the moment (To replace the Celica) as it is coming up to 10 years old (next year).

PS - Our Pegeot 206 is also a XR :) Did you see what I wrote about the servicings above ?

Cant see you wanting 1 of these little cars as a replacement for the celica !!
But for the sake of it...heres a shortened version ofwhat ive come up with...

Yaris.....safty of 7 airbags..good price for what is payed..
however..bad vision of road in front..centre mounted speedo ..like it or love it!!

Swift.....had nothing but good feedback about suzuki but we found the interior a little boring..still worth a look

GETZ ...Definatly value for money and a 5 yr warranty...my last choice on this list for if nothing else the brand name only !!

206 xr...Visually the most appealing of all 4 (to me anyway)... parts are more on average than the other 3 but not enough to put me off alltogether...

Cool thanks, Not totally going to replace the Celica.....just considering it :)

Let us know how they test drive !

the nissan pulsar is not bad value either, for under $20000 you get 2 airbags and abs brakes as standard, not sure if they are still selling the pulsar i heard they might be fazing them out.

Correct again there andrew ,no longer in production...cant remember what nissan we looked at but for some reason it didnt make the top 4...
Its now up to the wife to decide...my personal choice remains the toyota but she may not like it once a teat drive occurs...see how we go

MMM... she turned her nose up at the toyota yaris..:(
Drove a swift and thought is was a nice little car but also liked the suzuki jimmy (little 4wd).
Also wanted to drive 1 of those nasty little kia things....which she thought was excellent...spoke to a relative (mechanic by trade) who in no short terms said wede regret it in the long run...
Still have to get to a mazda dealer yet to check out the maxda 3...
No firm choice made yet untill shes looked at that 1..

stevo take it from me the suzuki jimmy (little 4wd) is a big piece of s***, i work for a used car dealer that also was a Suzuki dealer, when that model car came in for a service the customers would have many complaints, that most times couldn't really be fixed, they have alot of rattles & squeaks, wind noises, interior/exterior trims fall apart. many electrical problems.

How did you go with the Peugeot 206 ?

Hi.. I am probably too late and telling my useless bit here. We have a Mazda and the Getz (wife's work car).... The Mazda is pretty good (2 years problem free)... I like driving that car and the Getz despite looking small and girly is actually quite a good little car - not too slow or anything. Wife likes that car but might take a bit to getting used to handling wise. Goodluck mate whatever you pick!

Peugeot 206 ?..... She wasnt to wrapped in the shape bud....another good car bites the dust..:(
Thanks cliffy...not to late as we are still 2 weeks away from a purchace..and even then her current car still runs sweet so we can take more time if needed.

Dont think shes actually got 1 in particular rich....the suzuki seems to be up there and shes pretty keen on getting behind the wheel of a mazda 2 or 3 (depending on price).
But shes liable to change her mind again before its time to do it:lol:
