hey @SW-cards-N-bricks what does this mean - I am looking at picking up a case of stuff atm and the total will around the AU$1k mark, do they include postage in the value when assessing or do I need to worry much about having to pay additional when it arrives?

Has anyone else had any experiences how close can you go over / under before they charge you import tax? Because the way im looking at it, the deal becomes pretty poor if I have to pay 10-20% or more extra on top of the original purchase?

Not sure about how close you can get. It's not normally an issue, though the falling dollar won't help it going forward.
