I've been trying to bid on cards on ebay but i never won anything and most of the time i get outbidded right at the last few seconds! Does anyone here have experiences that can share in this thread that can help a fellow OCT out? Thanks!

What I do is wait until there is 3 minutes left then put a bid just above the current price and then increase my bid evey 30 seconds with 1 click bid.

Hope this helped and good luck with future bidding. :)

Thanks Whitey,

youre best bet is to just figure out the max youd pay for the card and bid that.
youre getting outbid in the final few seconds by a bid-sniper. a program that automatically puts in a bid in the final seconds. alot of people use them, but i dont really see the point, since you have to put a max bid into the program anyway, so you might aswell just put that bid into the normal e-bay bidding tool.
either way, you have to decide how much youre willing to spend and if youre still getting outbid, then youre just not willing to spend enough.
bidding in small increments is a bit of a waste of time in my opinion.

In ur opinion, do u think its better to max out ur bid near the last few secs of the bid?

I do this and the wy I stated I just couldn't be bothered writing both.

/\/\ doesnt make a difference. your max bid is just that and if someone using a sniper program has a higher max bid then they will win it in the last few seconds. if your max bid is higher than what theyve put into the program then youll win, no matter when you put the bid in. thats why i think the sniper progs are a waste of time. basically, e-bays bidding tool is a sniper bid tool.
other people will tell you its handy for auctions that are ending when they cant be near a computer (work/sleep etc), but really, its all just about the max bid. doesnt matter how or when you place it.

^^ That site right there is your/my/everyones best friend!! Been using it almost since the start of coming back into the hobby and works wonders! You put in the MAX you'd want to pay for the card and it bids for you in the final seconds!! It isn't free to use but it isn't expensive by any means. It works of a percentage of the final price. I generally paypal $5 to it when I run out and it last me ages!

Oh, and when you sign u, tell them valuez69 referred you so I get some free snipes! hahahahahahah!

Ok now I understand what the snipe tool does... so If i really want to win a bid, I can purchase this tool or max/fork out as much as I can for the bid and hope for the best?

pretty sure its the last 3 seconds. the problem is if someone else has put in a higher bid not using a sniper tool, they will win since the sniper bid will automatically not be enough.
like i said its all about your max bid. it doesnt matter how you place it, normally or via snipe.

just thought of something. dont bid in whole numbers. e.g instead of bidding $50, bid $50.43. alot of people bid in whole dollars, so putting a few extra cents on top will give a small edge over certain bidders...

hahaha! True, I am one of those people who bid in whole numbers.

Another question, how do you find out if someone is using a sniper tool?

You can't really. You can have a guess after the auction seeing when the last few bids hit, but theres no real way of seeing who is using one!

Like sgt_pepper said, do not bid in Whole numbers, I always bid in odd numbers slightly above the dollar amount of my highest wanted bid example. $75.35 or the like!
