Report: NBA passes rule raising the bar for team ownership

There will never be another Jay Z, at least in NBA circles. Until he became a certified agent and had to sell his stake, the rap superstar owned a miniscule (like, under one percent) stake in the Brooklyn Nets and was routinely trotted out as the face of the franchise. According to a new report, the NBA has passed a new rule limiting such in-name-only owners: each team can now have no more than 25 individual owners, and each owner’s stake must be at least one percent.

Here's something for the advanced stats / promising player part:

Put your GM hat on - if you had to take Kwame Brown or Anthony Bennett on your team which would you take? For those who chose Bennett, due to Kwame being one of the leagues biggest draft busts ever, you might be doing your team more harm than good.

For the majority of Kwame Browns career, he posted an average PER rating of somewhere between the 12 - 15. As a rookie, Bennett logged a lowsy 1.1 PER from debut through till late January and finishing on 6.5. In his second season in the league, he's putting together a disappointing 9.5 PER rating.

Putting it into perspective, the league average is 15 PER, and Kyrie Irving had numbers just north of 20 as a rookie.

I know the PER is all subjective, but could we be looking at a bigger bust than Kwame Brown?

Quite possible but I hope not!
I'd probably take Bennett in the hopes of a brighter future lol
Currently at 11 PER for 14-15 season

Whiteside, who began his career with Sacramento over four years ago, now has three career 20-rebound games, all for Miami this season. The last player to collect 20-or-more rebounds in a game that many times over his first 50 NBA contests was Shaquille O'Neal, who did so six times as a rookie in the 1992-93 season. The NBA record for that sort of thing belongs to Wilt Chamberlain, who produced 20-plus rebounds 46 times in his first 50 games as a rookie in the 1959-60 season.

"The Mayor" - big PG with range and a decent outside shot, can cover 2s and perimeter orientated Sfs too. Would've been close to a lottery pick if it wasn't for his injury. Don't sleep on him! Once the Pistons season is done look for him to get extended minutes in what is no longer so much a crowded backcourt....
