Anyone heard of these? Power balance wristbands

Yeah, well, I dished it out how I felt... So many people would be being ripped of by these things.... Fair enough now they are down to only a few bucks, but seriously, $50+ for something thats really all in your head? I just gave an honest assessment/opinion on something that is brutally, ridiculously and repeatedly ripping people off blind! Yes, I know some people need all the help they can get with certain things, but until they reflected their realy value, which has only happened recently, these things were just a money grabber!

:lol: Gives a new spin to the thread!
On the Nurofen line of being misleading, in Ersk's link, I had tooth issues the other week and went to get some bonjela for myself (as a father of a 4 and 2 yo) and this really nice (and I mean really NICE ;)) chemist chick took me aside and showed me that you can get a bonjela mouth ulcer gel for adults for $3 cheaper than the "Baby teething gel" and the active ingredients are exactly the friggin same! If I added up all the times the mrs has bought the baby stuff... well...

Marketing seduces us then takes our money away...:(

Wow - ACCC finds Power Wristbands are fakes and don't do what they say they do - what a surprise!!!

Power wristbands banned and refunds ordered by ACCC | Courier Mail

A WRISTBAND claiming to boost strength, balance and flexibility has been exposed as a fake.

The ACCC ordered Power Balance Australia to cease marketing its wristbands with claims of boosted sporting performance, and demanded they refund people already duped by the purported benefits.

Sports stars from Brendan Fevola to Damien Oliver have been seen with the faux performance enhancers on their wrists, but their scientific credentials have been well behind their marketing.

ACCC chairman Graeme Samuel said the bands had been exposed as fake and warned people off them as a last-minute gift.

"I'm hoping they are not thinking it's a good idea," he said. "They cost a lot of money for something that may not do anything."

The wristbands were still available for $30 on Power Balance's website on Wednesday afternoon, but claims of their benefits had been removed, and would also be removed from packaging.

"You could buy rubber bands from the newsagent and have a fresh one every day of the year," Mr Samuel said.

Without the science to back up the claims, Power Balance was ordered to repay all buyers who felt they were misled.

Power Balance has admitted its claims had no credible basis and its marketing of the bands could have been misleading. It pledged to remove misleading representations on its website and product packaging.

Consumer group Choice this year called on Power Balance to prove its claims, but it took the ACCC until Wednesday to resolve the matter.

If you would like a refund, contact the Power Balance refund line on 1800 733 436 between 9am and 5pm.

Bankrupt Company Owes Kobe Big Money

…and a bankruptcy court filing shows an entity representing Bryant is now a creditor against Orange County-based Power Balance for $400,000.

Clippers star Blake Griffin, who does endorse the company in which the Lakers’ Lamar Odom is a minority investor, is owed $20,000, according to the. Also on the list of biggest creditors are the Los Angeles Kings ($250,491), Sacramento Kings ($100,000) and skateboarder Ryan Sheckler ($25,000).

Power Balance wants you to know that the company is coming out of Chapter 11 just fine and will have a new mouthguard product coming on the market soon. They should try to pay Kobe in mouthguards. Yea, that will work.

Mouthguards....what a great idea for PowerBalance's next business venture.....they'll need them.....sounds like there will be a few investors looking to punch the business owners/operators in the face!!
