Just saw these at my local newsagent today and for the life of me can't find any info on them anywhere. They're the 13/14 edition of Panini Basketball. Kind of weird that they wouldn't be around anywhere, everywhere I search, my only results come up with hoops
cheers for finding that man, it looks like it, but the information is different, it says hobby has 10 cards per pack, 24 packs per box and retail has eight cards per pack, 24 packs per box. the packs ive have 6 cards per pack, so a bit confusing there
ok, so to make it weirder, when I busted some packs, it turns out they're exactly like Hoops, except they don't say hoops anywhere on them, for example on the hall of fame heroes cards where it normally says hoops, it just has the team name.On the base cards, the name of the player has moved from the top to the bottom (where it would normally say panini hoops) and the top now says guard, forward or center.
I would find it very hard to believe that these are fake, but I don't know what else to think with these, they're almost like templates for a future set or something. Anyway, here are some photo examples

The back of the cards are also identical apart from the small print in the bottom left where it says the series name, where it usuall says panini hoops, it says panini spa
I spoke to my local newsagent yesterday about getting a couple of sealed boxes - I'll be picking up two next fortnight for $140 combined. I should get the complete set, but will be waiting until the beckett annual comes out this year for pricing.
I just went through the checklist, if I read it correctly, there is no Jeremy Lin card in the set... what are they thinking?? Even though he is not as big as Yao Ming, he is still quite popular amongst Chinese people.
I think they're only doing the starting five for most teams - it appears to be at least 135 veterans with the rest being rookies. with Lin coming off the bench... that kind of eliminates him from the set.
