upset on the cards!!!! Swan a huge comeback i reckon. He has to poll 2 votes in every match to clear Gaz. He might well do

Good luck from here Swan. ;)

Looking at a tight finish! Ablett should have a couple of BOG at the end! :D

The coverage just started on TV for us, they needed Armorguard people to take the votes to Demitriou in a suitcase lol

GARY ABLETT HAS WON THE 2009 BROWNLOW MEDAL:worthy:=D>

Great win....and about time really!! I thought he had better seasons in the previous 2 years, but well deserved.

Interesting to note also that Cooney didnt poll a vote....wonder when the last time a defending brownlow winner hasnt polled the following year...

If I'm not mistaken he polled one didn't he? :-k

Great to hear, finally has a Charlie, when probably should have had 2 or 3. Great stuff.

LEADERBOARD
30 Gary Ablett
22 Chris Judd
20 Lenny Hayes
19 Simon Black, Jonathan Brown
17 Nick Dal Santo, Adam Goodes
16 Joel Selwood
15 Bryce Gibbs, Marc Murphy, Nick Riewoldt
14 Matthew Boyd, Brendon Goddard

No one was gonna catch him, but in games where i didnt think he was anywhere near bog he still grabs 2 or 3.

How did Swan poll so low?? some games he was getting 30-35 possies and kickin 1-2 goals in a winning team and not polling????

Swan can't kick. He does not have elite disposal and he can't consistently hit targets. Should never ever have been in the top 5 favourites for the Charlie.

You obviously didn't watch too many Collingwood games this season.

How can someone get 38 touches 1 goal and was clearly best on ground not even get so much as a vote?!

Ablett deserved the win, but gee I think Swan was stiff not getting half the votes he probably deserved. I mean between rounds 16-20 he didn't get a single vote and he was a stand out, along with Didak n Pendles during that period, the reason why he went from 12-1 to 6-1 odds on!!

His kicking can let him down but jeez if your looking along those lines, Ablett had way more handballs than kicks in most of his games and is not really the most effective of kickers himself.
Swan was the workhorse and racked up 700 touches in a year (32 ave a game!), ableit he is not the greatest of kickers!!! Ablett was the Ball magnet who was always positioned well to offload an effective touch (usually a handball) or weave his way magically through a pack.

If Swan wasn't to win, fair enough, Ablett definitely deserved, but geez he deserved to be second if not and not a distant 20th or something!!!

Dw I'm a collingwood supporter so I am a little biased, but I did have my money at the TAB on ablett and small bet on swan so I still won out on the night!

1. So you agree Swan's kicking lets him down? Okay then why on earth could he be seriously considering for the brownlow?

2. Ablett is not an effective kicker?

Obviously you haven't watched much AFL football yourself then ;)

Look I'll conceed Ablett is better kicker than swan, when he does actually kick the ball! ;p

Ablett averaged 13.5 kicks for season 2009.

yeah 13.5 kicks and 20 handballs!!! ;p Only stirring, he's not Scott West at least!

Oh and P.S Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't Ablett have a game where he got 5 kicks and 24 handballs??? You Fail buddy, you fail ;P

Anyways regardless, I'm not having a shot, Ablett won it fair n square, no doubts. It actually netted me and extra $100 dollars by betting on him, I was that sure he'd win :)

He had a game where he got 13 kicks and 33 handballs. :p

Some good points made there.

If Swan cant kick yet he still stars for a top 4 team u dont think he should have been up in the top 5 for the brownlow???

Voting was very odd this year, 1 game Swan had 34 possies and 2 goals and didnt even get a vote in a 6 goal win. Yet Collingwood V Freo, pies win by 90+ points and a freo player gets a vote????

Don't forget Goodes's games, had stuff all in round 14 , swans lose by plenty and still he gets votes! He's giving the umpires good head I reckon.
