Bad luck on the mystery pack mate. I feel your pain, we have all been there with boxes, packs, cases .. you name it!
It's the love of collecting cards and stepping into the unknown which brings us back to busting wax!
First of all there are a few things to consider when buying 'Mystery Packs' (from my point of view).
1. The term 'Mystery Pack' should raise alarm bells with anyone who doesn't want/desire the element of surprise. You will either hit the gold mine Eureka Stockade style or you will hit the gutter
2. Someone will have to get the 'Hit' - looks like 9 of you cannot get the hit otherwise there is no point for running a Mystery Pack system from the organisers POV.
3. If you did want an element of surprise/hit (I assume you did as you wanted to hit the big card) then you did buy the right item but you were unlucky this time (refer: gambling)
4. Has the hit been pulled by initial/previous purchasers? If not, this increases your odds/chances and may be more beneficial for your investment into the 'Mystery Pack' system.
5. Is the majority of the hits/cards available for a cheaper rate? More so often than not, it will be and you can save some $$$
From reading 5 pages of this thread it appears as though you have now accepted what you have received, potentially will gain nearly 50% of your money back on one card and have, in my opinion, gained much more than a 'hit' or a 'big card' from this experience. There is always risks in life, and buying Mystery Packs is one
- I tend to think you will probably use this experience going forward in life and apply it to other areas of your life. More often than not your realistic expectation won't be met when doing something like this and if you go in with the attitude of "I'm doing this for fun" - then anything that exceeds your expectations is only a bonus.
Better luck next time mate and enjoy your cards!
