You might remember how excited i was to track down a NBA players association 5 x 7 inch card a while back and how long it took to get one.

Well meet Mr NBAPLA's friend. Mr 8 x 10 oversized version :D

I knew they existed as they are in the beckett annual and have been for years but I've never seen one on eBay or for sale in any store. I have't even heard of a collector with one. I can't go on with a story telling you all about it. You probably know just as much as I do.

All I know is the larger version is worth about 2 1/2 times the normal one and there are less players in the set compared to the 5 x 7's.

The fact that there is no info on these works in my favour as people of are skeptical of oddball they don't know about. I couldn't care and all i know is they are rare. A rare addition is fine by me :D Getting harder and harder to track down the cards I need now.

great find chad =D> .can you pease give us all some tips on how you manage to track down these rare finds
tony :D

yeah I have the Cowens smaller one around here somewhere and seen a few others smaller ones pop up on eBay including a complete set with the SP's in it that pushed the price right up. First oversized one I've seen though.

And Tony: It pays to be vocal in what you collect etc. Some sellers and collectors have things sitting around that you need and then list them for you. Some make it even easier and do deals like Djhacks(Don) etc. Some facets of collecting have a community feel to them and collectors email each other if they see things at shows, shops, in collections or online. I know a few that would of bid but left it alone for me as well. Thats always nice when they do.

How can it be rare when it's not numbered, or signed??

Looks sweet! I don't know a thing about em, so what you said is good enuff for me! Again, looks sweet!

What year is it from? Does it have any print reference or anything?

His RC is 1969 topps but dont forget there weren't any sets between 1961 and 1969 and his rookie year was actually 1963 so his RC is 6 years into his career. Thats 6 sets that I didn't have a card to show for them :-(

Like you said Chad, there's not alot of info on these ones, but do you know how the oversize cards were originally released? Were they sort of like boxtoppers?
It would look great in a nice frame.

Pardon me chad if my eyesight is out, but if that small one is a 5 x 7, then the big one looks more like a 10 x 14! Nice cards though, that much is certain.

They aren't out of boxes or packs Funk. Got no idea. I would of thought maybe each card was cello packed but I have never seen a sealed one. They might of been on sale just as singles as postcards etc?? As for the oversized ones???

Maybe Don can help out there??

yeah you are right Doc. The big one IS 8 x 10 so the smaller on is less that 5 x 7 as its also smaller than the star co court kings etc. I should of put a disclaimer saying smaller size quote not accurate LOL
