Very true but i can't see this release being busted at the same rate as elite due to the price and the release so close after christmas may help maintain pricing a little as it may be harder obtaining cards for those that wait for the secondary market. just dependant on how much gets busted up front.

Yes you are right, the fact that its so close to Christmas (with very little notice) may limit the initial wave of breaks for a month or 2.......keeping prices up for the key desirable cards.
Again like most release, time will tell where these settle.
I really don't get why so many people seem obsessed with cards holding a value. If you're just a collector then who really cares if prices drop off a bit after a few weeks of release? Personally I like it when prices go down as it allows me to maybe get some of the ones that would be otherwise out of my reach.
I think it is an investment as well as a hobby. This kind of hobby is one where you generally obtain what you want, put it in a folder and then only look at it occasionally. Other hobbies say for example fishing, you get a far more bang for your buck in terms of spending money and usage.
I like high end cards holding value. It makes it far more special to know that you work hard and save for a card that you want and when you get it, great feeling.
But lower prices means it's accessible to more people opening up a wider market. Yes I know Traders & xtreme are meant for that but even the "higher end" cards shouldn't be so out of reach for many collectors.
Once I get hold of my teams cards I want I couldn't care if their value went to zero as I won't be parting with them (unless I hit a couple of the same thing then I might)
A higher market only seems to help the big resellers make more money IMO.
Completely disagree. The hobby falls over without resale and ongoing value of cards. I understand that a card or release not being accessible to some is frustrating but as I said, the best part of collecting is working hard and ticking something you want off the list, putting a collection together is a gradual thing.
If all cards are accessible to all levels of collectors then they might as well not be numbered or limited in edition either.
The hobby as it currently stands is almost not sustainable with the low prices on signature cards and the way product is dumped into the secondary market.
For a release like Glory, you have to remember that a reseller big or small, is outlaying a huge amount of money straight up so if they can make a little back by the market value staying up then so be it.

I agree with everything you have written but I remember when I raised the issue of the big couple of dealers dumping product on eBay everyone was jumping up and down how they do so much for the industry?
The reason the signature cards from this years elite have dropped from the $70-$80 mark are because you can get them for $40 on eBay off a certain dealer.
Likewise with a set of sapphire mojos going for $140 ?? Cheaper then you can put a set of rubies with different numbers together.
Easy for them to do when they aren’t paying $180 a box or $1500 +for a case !!
That’s why I find it amusing that everyone wants to sing there praises as to keep in good with those certain dealers .
They are either helping the hobby or not , it’s black or white .
Note : before anyone starts carrying on I’m not talking about the good guys that sell/trade through here , maybe they need to be given more of the pie as they seem to do things more fairly.
Yep, you are not wrong with that assessment but this release is controlled by Wangy so that discounted case price to an individual reseller won’t happen.
There was really only one eBay reseller in that category who is now gone although there is another one fast moving into that space.
I think the other aspect of the prices you mentioned dropping so low is the introduction of the extra mojo set each year and then the black signatures this year.

I don’t really know much about him , but if that’s the case it can only be a good thing .
As for another dealer moving into that space , IMO they are already there but more arrogant .
I have my beef with them and have emails and msgs to prove they were in the wrong with a certain issue .
Bad blue on their part as I had spent a lot with them over a short time and would of continued to do so .

All collectors have their opinion on Steve Wang, good, bad or otherwise. My dealings with him have always been top notch but he is expensive. That being said, he is a businessman first and foremost (don’t think he collects) so his objective would be to make money. His distribution methods are a major reason Select products held value, even with the market in its current state.
I think you will also find the reason that he is trying to get back into NRL is that A) Select and him are probably not as close as they used to be and with Select backdooring a lot of their product (mainly older stuff) these days to other parties this I dont think sits very well with him. He has invested in a lot of this older product and Selects behaviour is likely causing him to miss out on sales.
B) TLA are a business and if someone is willing to part fund a release upfront (pay installments in return for exclusive distribution and greater input into the product) then its a win for them as well. TLA produces the product and hands it over and its paid for.
They then dont have to deal with multiple large resellers to try and move the product and wont be left with stock on the books.
As long as both make money i could see this happening again if successful.
Again these are just my thoughts.......but it does appear Interesting times ahead.
