2014-15 NBA Playoffs Thread - SPOILERS!!!!

I HATED the Clips about 2 years ago. I know drob50 hates them still, I've come to admire Chris Paul a lot. Crawford and Redick are great to watch too. All this team needs is a complete makeover to grab some more fans. Ditch the loser Clips name and get some better colours to go with the new name.

But I really hope the Spurs can get through them, but it's going to be tough.
There an understatement! lol
I can't stand their game. I like Blake and have an appreciation for Reddicks off ball movement, but I can't stand Jordan, Barnes and Chris Paul.

Spurs need to steal the next game IMO

I can appreciate any dudes work ethic to have long careers - Redick, Ray Allen, Battier etc - doesn't mean I have to like watching them! Lol - I'm not sure what it is? I can appreciate some Jordan hops, some nice CP3 aggression on O, I like Doc, I can appreciate Barnes' role to be a prick - just put it all together and I don't watch their games it's so weird.

Cp3 make a statement tonight with Griffon. If they roll the Spurs i'd have to favour them going forward (more than i already do).
Cp3 to me is the best pg in the game (pure PG > curry) but this is not a debate each to their own.
This will be a test of how the Clippers move forward form new year also (DJ is off the books after this season ends) do they pay him out with a near max or max contract (imho he's worthy of a max).

Love the fact it goes, do you love everyone hating you, then really, yes - Spurs no - Rockets
LOL
I am only a Kawhi Leonard and David Robsinson fan, otherwise I just didn't like how much they hack Smith and Howard, Omer etc. But these NBA players really need to learn how to shoot a foul shot. They are getting paid massive bucks. He seems to be able to shoot the running hook shot. Why not do the hook shot from the foul line.
Or underarm it like the olden days lol

I would love a Rockets V Cavs game. But I know this is unlikely. My prediction is the GSW V Cavs.
But liking how the bulls are playing and Blake destroying the spurs dunking

haha, Kevin McHale was hacking in the first QTR last week. In my opinion, the Rockets are the last team in the league that are in a position to complain about the intentional fouling problem, they have James Harden constantly driving through the lane with the SOLE intention of drawing a foul. It make for just as boring basketball as intentional fouling does.

Hahaha, knews I would get some kickback from that comment considering I am a Rockets fan (Magic as well)
Thought it would take a little longer.

Also must add they have missed many calls on James Harden which would have skewed game results. So it goes both ways.

Yeah, you just timed it well.... I was on my morning stroll of the BBall talk! haha

The problem is that Harden plays for the foul so much. If you are going to do that, the refs will develop the thought that you are not really getting contact and will likely miss some calls that should have been called. But I think he gets a lot of soft calls where he is the one that creates the contact.

I hate when players aim to get a foul instead of a basket, especially when Tony Parker does it. I can be found yelling at the screen loudly when I see his patented half layup/flop fall being used.

Chris Paul is the same. His flop yesterday on the Kawhi charge was disgusting, He literally fell BEFORE Kawhi touched him! haha

I guess it is Karma for Patty Mills' solid 1v1 defence!

“You know what? I don’t look to get fouled, as people might think I do,” Harden said, darting his eyes left and right to caricature the notion. “I’m not like: ‘Where’s the foul? Where’s the foul?’ as I’m driving.” [...] His only aim is to score the basket, Harden said, and if any defenders want to swipe at the ball to stop him, they can. But, he added, when he makes a move to the basket, he drives hard, and fouls are sometimes a byproduct.

Still, he was asked, what about the way he flattens out his arms to make them susceptible to being smacked, or how he changes pace on his dribble at counterintuitive times to create collisions, or his tendency to cling to defenders’ bodies even when freer paths to the rim seem to exist? [...] Harden smiled. “That’s just being crafty,” he said.

“Getting fouled is definitely an art, and he’s very good at it,” Rockets Coach Kevin McHale said, adding that Harden’s body awareness allowed him to initiate contact that works in his favor. [...] “You either know how to draw fouls or don’t, and I’m not sure you can teach it,” McHale added. “It may be innate.”

I've watched a few Rockets games and from what I observed, he's just great at drawing contact and a fantastic penetrator. Their offense is quite often predicated on Harden taking a screen at the top of the key, driving to the hoop, then kicking it to the open guy when help comes and when the defense is slow to rotate, they can't do anything but foul him. That's when he's at his best. I hate it when he takes all those crossover, step back, jab step 3 pointers while falling away. It looks awesome when it works but it's such a low percentage shot. But the few games that I did watch, there wasn't much theatrics and phantom calls on his defenders. He was earning his way to the line.

Yeah I was yelling each time Smith missed, agree with the comment about the soft calls. He does seem to get some of these as well.
I didn't watch the Spurs game, only the highlights. Didn't get time.

Pelicans are now going to have issues if Tyreke and Jrue are out for todays game.
Can't see Portland getting past Memphis.

He has been passing it out more often, which sometimes is good but sometime bad. He is second guessing his move and it ends up with a turnover.
Watched a couple of games lately this has happened.
Particularly with the Spurs and Tim Duncan's stop last game they played.

Still think GSW V Cavs Playoffs, but I know a lot of people are saying that.
Think GSW will take control and Cav's don't always click. GSW do

That is rubbish! I am sure Dwyane Wade will tell that the sideways jump shot he does to hit the defender is part of his usually shooting action too! lol

I agree, he is a superstar and is amazing at controlling his body, but he does play for the foul on a lot of plays, or should I say for the "contact" which often results in a foul. The only shot he is looking for is the possible And-1 after the foul.

In fairness, the problem lies within the rules of the game, not Harden himself. The rule should be that is the offensive player creates the contact, then its a no call. Harden going to the line 25 times a game if just as boring as the Hack-A sequences.

I just read an interesting fact this season James Harden ranks 48th in F/T attempted in a season.
824 = basically 10 a game.
44- Allen Iverson 829
41 - K.Durant - 840 in 2009-10, 804 in 2013-14 when he won MVP.
38 - Dwight Howard - 849 2008-09 (Hack-A-Dwight) Most he has had is 916 in 10-11
Karl Malone and Wilt are in there a lot.
Michael Jordan in there a few times
Wilt Chamberlain 1363 is the most in a season = 16.62 a game hahaha.
Lebron James is in there for a few seaons over 800

Just thought it was interesting so thought I would throw it in there.
Kobe's best attempt was 742 which ranks him 132 in 07-08

Come oooonnnnn Warriors!!!!

I put $3 on a combo of

Butler to score first basket in a Bulls win

and
Thompson to score first basket in a Warriors win

It was paying $44 and all I need now is a Warriors win for a $132 payout! haha

I assume you mean FT attempts? Not FG?

Good $129 win there!

Even tho the Pelicans lost game 1, next year is the year of Anthony Davis, the kid is already a beast and still getting better, if the Pelicans can grab another star to go with him they will be deadly next year.
