2012 NRL Champions Sell Sheet

Okay so I rang and had a chat to a guy in licensing/marketing at the NRL this morning.

Probably no shock here but he tells me that the NRL provides all pictures to Select. Select then produce the cards and the NRL gets final sign off on them. In terms of design/insert series etc he told me that is all down to Select however once again they have the final sign off and veto power.

Also told me the reason for guys like Sam Burgess not being in the cards is more down to them not having good enough photos as they were injured for a large chunk of the season.

Thanks Owen

He told me the ideas for inserts (which i assumed included Signatures) is up to Select. Select go to the NRL with the ideas for the series, the NRL signs off on it and provides the pictures. Select then make the cards and once the NRL gives final sign off on them they go to be printed.

The NRL is not dictating to Select whether they produce signature cards or not. The guy told me they have a very good relationship with Select.

so it is select who are making the poor decisions, not the nrl. that certainly clears up one bit of conjecture on here and means that all the shit put on select on here is more than justified. f****ng muppets.

George is not wrong with what he is saying. If Select go to the NRL and say they want to have 12 players per team in the base set then they are dependent on what the NRL provides them so to an extent Select have to take what the NRL give them.

In terms of signature cards at the end of the day its down to money - its got nothing to do with the NRL. Either Select is prepared to shell out cash on the players to sign cards or they are not. For whatever reason this year they decided not to run with them.

did you ask if the nrl have ever used the veto power and if yes, does it happen othen??

not sure if it goes in this thread but does anyone know why we cant get state of origin cards out of select but esp could for one of the tele/courier mail sets??

Wow that's a bit later than I had anticipated! Especially since the sheet has 'Available nationally in newsagents and hobby stores' on it. I thought they had already been released when I read that...

Question - given that the player on the sticker and the player on the gold card underneath are different does a full set of stickers guarantee a full set of the gold cards?

You would have to think so right??
