Agreed. CA has massive form for fucking players over. Recent examples aside from Hauritz were Symonds (told to speak up regarding racist gestures and when he did not backed by CA. This was the beginning of the end for him, BTW lost alot of respect for Sachin as a person after he openly lied to protect Harbijan) and James Hopes who IMO was very slid for us in the ODI arena and then just got punted.

On a side note I think Lyon was dropped so he will nt be mentally scarred be India. I think he is still considered our #1 spinner, at least by the Selecities anyway.

I think something that we have to remember is that most of our current australian team have never played in Indian conditions, but we are up against people who were raised on pitches that turn. Also our bowlers are no where near as good as the Indians, which in turn makes are batsmen look poor.

Just remember, in our conditions what is happening to us happened to them.

Good points! Our fast bowling is good ATM with a lot of depth but our slow bowling.....

Our batting really misses that 'rock' who is able to fight hard and hold up an end AKA Hussey. Playing in India is very difficult and their spinners are top class but our shot selection and value if wickets was pathetic. Phil Hughes needs to go, cant play spin, doesn't move his feet against the spinners either, makes it tough to score runs and survive.

True but I think some of our prep, shot selection and value of wickets needs to be looked at!

No excuses. Professional athletes should be able to play in all conditions and not embarrass themselves like these guys did.

Cricket is well and truly up shit creek in this country. We lived of the glory years of Waugh, Warne, McGrath, Gilchrist, Hayden etc etc and did nothing to prepare for the day that they all retired. Now games get bounced off Fox for NRL trial games. Embarrassing.

I really feel for the players. The phrase "lambs to the slaughter" springs to mind regarding the selection for this Test match. It is like trying to bring down Rambo with a swizzle stick.

Each to their own, but the way I see it is that we have a vastly inexperienced lineup, most of which have never experienced an Indian wicket before. Come the ashes series, I believe that our team will have a lot more success.

Also, let's not forget Fawad Ahmed, he will be up for selection when the Ashes come round, and I believe that he is a very good bowler.

We will do better in England than in India, we have a great group of fast bowlers when fit in Pattinson, Starc, Johnson, Cummins, Bird and Siddle...however this can cause problems with selectors wanting to rotate them for the sake of it. I think the batsmen will do better too but a few more need to find form.

What we really need is stability at the tope of the batting order. Watson needs to open with Warner, Cowan needs to go. Clarke needs to come in at 3 or 4 rather than batting too far down the order. Warner does enough that you can't drop him and Hughes can't be dropped after his last series in Australia. Not sure about Wade... and Henriques seems like he will do ok down the order.

I think the Poms will smash us, we cannot face swing bowling with better teams, and their crappy spinner beats our top 10 hands down. We are in for some misery. i lost faith when they picked Warner a 20/20 player to open in our test team.

Warner hasn't done that bad, he averages 42 in test cricket. And with the type of player he is, he's likely to get out cheaply sometimes but also get some good scores. Cowan is averaging nearly 32...

Our batting line up is a worry at this stage and could go badly against England, i agree with that. Hopefully a couple of guys find form and i think we need to make a couple of changes to the lineup too.

I think in England we will go much better bowling wise...and yes we don't have a good spinner so why not play four quicks? Don't play a spinner just for the sake of it because the pitch might spin, if the spinner is crap anyways then it defeats the purpose! An attack of 4 quicks along the lines of something like Pattinson, Starc, Bird and Cummins with guys like Siddle, Johnson and Harris likely to also play is a very good attack.

Aussie batsmen struggle against spin, Aussie batsmen struggle against swing, Aussie batsmen struggle to concentrate for more than 5 overs(excluding Clarke)....
Phil Hughes has been given a saloon passage back into the Aussie side, he should be given a saloon passage straight out of the side...

We hear people say "I'd give an arm and a leg to play for Australia" and we are often jealous/envious of the opportunities, lifestyle and finances affored to those who play the great sport that we have grown up with and love deeply.

However, being a professional cricketer is for the most part a full-time job these days. Just as those of us who work in offices, drive trucks, operate supermarket checkouts etc have choices regarding the career path we would like to follow, so too does Nathan Lyon.

With this in mind, I am about to type a sentence that I never thought possible about an Australian cricketer. I hope that Nathan Lyon rejects his next National selection.

Would you accept being tossed aside in a act of blind panic, having toiled your guts out for 19 Test matches? People no longer accept being treated as playthings in the workplace or in life in general. How would you, with any confidence, be in the right frame of mind to perform under the watch of the current selection panel to begin with?

That's the nature of cricket and players have to deal with it, whether or not he had toiled his guts out he has under performed and frankly has been average for most of his career. If he denies selection then he will never play for Australia again. Players today are too soft, if you get dropped then you should go and work your arse off to get back into the team. You get dropped if you don't perform. The fact that the selectors are incompetent and make some baffling selections does mean that he was unlucky though, a few other guys could just as easily been dropped.

Hauritz is slightly worse than Lyon.

Lyon should be in. Can't believe they pissed him off so easily. And he wasn't bowling in tandem with another spin, and looked to be just chucking them down to compensate for the slow bloody over rates.
