Not sure I agree with this. This could have swung very badly for the Mavs and then they would be having to play catch up just for that couple of minutes of rest. This was the game they needed to win desperately. Don't hold back Chandler's minutes when this game was so crucial and Chandler isn't injured. I agree with taking Dirk out in G4 for a few minutes because he wasn't effective and he was clearly fatigued. But G5 and a healthy Tyson Chandler? Not the time for scrubs to be filling in who have no clue on the defensive rotation.
I think if you're Carlisle you have to give Chandler a rest though. The guy only averaged 27 minutes in the regular season, and likely isn't used to playing 40+ minutes. So a few things could have gone wrong. He could have tired out, which is a possibility considering he played 43 mins and 40 the previous 2 games. He could have fouled out, seeing as he finished the game with 4 fouls, and then do you really want Mahinmihinmihinmi closing out the game? Additionally Chandler isn't known to have great brains, when tired he could make poor decisions. You have to give him some rest.. He's battling hard all night, surely he's tired.

Yes they did lose one at home. Just because they won the one game away does not cancel it out because if they had actually won the one at home and still won the one away it would be 3-2 their way. Don't drop games at home in the lesson here
I get what you're saying and so does Onvision I think.. He just means "theoretically" both teams did what they were meant to do, which is hold home. So hence if they did that it would be 3-2 to Dallas as it is now. So "theoretically" the Heat should be good enough at home to close it out.
But I do agree with you, that winning 3 in a row at home is pretty much impossible, therefore if the Heat had done what they were SUPPOSED to do we would be going back to Miami with the Heat up 3-2.

Which is why 2-3-2 sucks, because they didn't lose a home game.
I just sayin...
2-3-2 doesn't suck that much though. I know it sounds like a mountain to climb, winning 2 in a row to win the championship as opposed to the Mavericks only having to win 1 - but it's not really like that.
The players and coaching staff, everyone involved with the Heat team will view it as one game. You play Game 6 like it's your last, because if you get through it, then it's level again.
So while it sounds like "oh Heat have to win twice as many" - really all they have to do is win this next one, and not worry about Game 7. If Game 7 comes around, the pressure will be on both teams enormously and equally. It won't be "it's harder for the Heat to win since Dallas has less of a chance of losing 2 in a row" or anything like that.
If you get to Game 7, it's all about that one game. Neither team will think about past games etc etc.
So while it sounds insurmountable for the Heat, it's definitely not as huge if you put it into perspective.
That's the beauty of the playoffs. Even when you're down, just take it 1 game at a time. If Heat win Game 6, suddenly it's not so bad, because they've got the momentum and it's really anyone's game for Game 7. So it's all about the next game, don't even think about G7.
