seems a common thing with the signatures my morris has fading through the guts of the signature the williams i got is alright though

This is still Select's quality control. The end product has their name on it, therefore it's their job to make sure the printers are doing a decent job.

You'd think if they'd had these problems before then they would not use this printing company again!

Haha, no Its just Selects Problem!! How Can select see the signature cards after they have gone into packs?? These things have only become aware after the sales.... Obviously it still comes down to select, but the quality control still falls on the manufactures/packing companies shoulders.

I can tell you one thing for free, if the AFL series is the same, then the **** will not only hit the fan but splatter uncontrolably!!

if we want the problem fixed. EVERYBODY, and i mean everybody, has to bombard Selects phone number, facebook, email and twitter accounts with complaints.Also if anyone knows anyone who works in the NRLS sales and marketing team they should be notified of the problems with Select as well.

There is still a chance a different company will have the license for the AFL cards next season (maybe NRL too)

I bought half a dozen random packs from 2 newsagents. All the cards were alright, bar 1 silver card, which was chewed by a dog by the looks of it.

But...I did get two real fat packs with 11 common cards and a silver card in each. They even felt wrong, heavy and bulging. LOL. Not only is the quality of a lesser standard considering some of the posts and pics on here, the packaging is s#ite and the counters packing wrong.

I wonder how much the licence for a 1 set - 20 card per team (320 common cards) would cost to buy off the NRL as I am seriously tempted to just do it. FMD...I am over the ineptitude that is Select.

I am still gonna buy my sets as promised, but geez, I'm nervous.

I got a Josh Dugan sig card replaced in 2009 as the pack had been dog-eared when I bought it.

No chance of a 320 set. In fact, when the league expands to 18 teams in a couple of years it may even reduce to 9 card team sets.

well to me team sets should always be 9 cards or 18 cards tops as we have 9 pocket pages it could be just me but that makes more sense than 12 card team sets

Not sure if anyone else has had this issue, but i have had a sort of oily film on a fair few of my foil cards, it just rubs off but this maybe one of the reasons for the fading on the sig cards.

Select don't care. Every box I've bought has ended in dramas.

I would forgo all and any chase cards for a 18 player per team set.

Maybe they could make a 'Set For Kids' series, like the cards from the 80's. $1 a pack - 10 cards per pack, NO inserts or parallels of ANY kinds, and about 320 cards in the set.

This wouldnt really work, It was different when Scanlens were around as there wasnt anything different/better. Kids today are very aware of what else is out there. The smell of the bubblegum really is the scent of alot of peoples childhood but feelings of happily spending lunch money on a few packs with no chance of anything but base, are over unfortunately.

Select do need to lift their game though, Adult collectors with disposable income are the most neglected imo.

dont think that will ever happen and kids like the inserts i think the should keep the champs for kids. $3 a pack

no autos in the set too expensive.

re introduce the sketches (for kids)
also the foil sigs or somethign equivalent in price and make the gems the hit of the crop with a retail of about $10

I don't know any kids who give two hoots about inserts. In fact, they get rubber banded and dog eared like the other regular cards in their grubby little hands.

And no one said the cards in a big set sans chase cards would be lesser quality.

And I bet if there was a 300+ card set, with no chase, most people would still buy 'em.

Why would you NOT want more cards of each team? Just curious ... I'd love it, at the moment really good players don't get cards (eg. Adam MacDougall this year) and there are some regular first grade players who never ever get a card!

Maybe 18 is the max, but I think whoever does the cards in the future should certainly be thinking about a bigger base set, it's the only way to go.

Of course it is just Select's problem! If they were a halfway decent company they would

a) Have some sort of check in place that the printing is being done to the required standard
b) Not use a company again if they have made a meal of it in the past
c) Check once the product is returned, before it is dispatched to retail outlets, that it meets the required standard

I'd hate to work at a restaurant you owned ... get a piece of steak that's all fat, complain ... "Nah, it's not our fault, that's how the meat came to us from our supplier!".

Everyone seems to think its Select who make all the decisions about how many cards, which players and even which photo's are used, if only that were true.............don't forget the NRL have a huge say in what goes on, remember its their product too and select have the licence to print what they are told to a degree. 20 cards per team and a 320 card base is, well I won't say what it is, that idea might have been alright 30 years ago but as has been said, kids and adults want bang for their buck, that means the chance of something nice in a pack.

When speaking with Select today about the printing in China I was informed that all the cards were loaded into packs by hand, hundreds of chinese citizens putting cards into the packs, I said well that is how we get heaps of cards with corner point damage.

All the excuses in the world can be made about the printing but the bottom line is that Select is untimately responsible. I was chastised this afternoon by a Select employee by being vocal on their website, by phone, on facebook and twitter for complaining about their product, I was told that social networking pages were not the appropriate medium to voice my concerns about their product, I should have called to discuss it first, Well its my right to winge and ***** about anything I want expecially shoddy workman ship, I just hope that my persistance helped in making Select release a statement about the quality control issues.

This afternoon I have sent via express post auto's, rookies, silver parallels and base cards back to select that are below acceptable standard, I wonder what I get in return.

In addition, I am also off the opinion that the certification by Mr Copley on the back of all Select's auto's are not worth the effort, I have been told that player managers pick up the blank auto's from Select and take them to the player who are told a date to have them completed by. The players are also provided with sufficient pens to use a new pen every 20 cards and are instructed to not put cards on top of other cards etc BUT here is the rub, no one from Select monitors this process but Mr Copley signs off as stating this is the signature of that player..............IF THIS IS TRUE then I feel jipped.

Rant over for today, sorry peoples.

Well, I didn't mean to say that it is entirely Select's decision what cards they do produce, but just that it would be my preference to have more base cards ... and I thought other collectors would in general agree, but each to their own!
