2011-12 NBA Season Thread - SPOILERS

130 points in first 5 starts passes Shaq as most in that span since ABA/NBA merger (twitter source) but ESPN stats says 136 for Lin is most since John Drew had 139 for Hawks in 74-75 season

Other stat is previous 6 straight 20+ point games with team winning all 6 was Denver's David Thompson in 1976. Thompson didn't score 20 on previous 2 games but starred in the ABA prior to this.

You are wrong there unfortunately. Most players CANNOT step up and be "The Man" on a team. Especially someone that has been dumped a few times and then dropped to D League. Yes he got lucky by being put in that position. But you could give another 50 bench guys the same opportunity and they would fall flat on their face.

But the money going in to his cards is stupid. People that spend CRAZY amounts on Jordan I understand. Because yes, it is an investment. But Lin could go back down to $10 rookie cards within the month. But hey, it's not my money.

There is a HEAP of players that don't get minutes when full rosters are available that could step up and do the same as Lin in the position Lin has been GIFTED!!! He has been giving great minutes on a team that has lost its 2 MAIN scorers and has basically no other offensive threat! To prove they dont have other offensive threats, just look at how many shots Lin take to get his points!!! Give a LOT of players that were in his position the opportunity to shot that many shots and the results will be nearly the same!!!

Again, Im not hating on Lin, I love a good luck story as much as the next but ignoring card prices being pushed up by the Asian market, and the Hype is majorly OVERRATED! (For now.... If he continues this for the rest of the season and beyond, then I'll take my hat off to him!)

Come on Ian give it up to the young fella. Of this was over in Turkey during the lockout and he only had these 6 games he would have his jersey retired. I'm looking at you Deron :p

hahahah Matt! The dude is playing good ball! No doubt about it! But, people are over hyping him, not just cards too......

Well, we all know how easy Turkey is now....... :cautious:

The guy shot 9-20 today with 7-11 free throws, it's not like he's taking 35 shots. Name some guys that would come in and not only score those points but would WIN games for their clubs?????

I'm not talking about cards. You are saying that ANYONE could do it given those minutes. I'm saying that's not true. Should the Knicks have really won the last 6 games without (mainly) Amare and Carmello????

No, Im saying a heap of guys...... Not anyone, Augustine could do it, CJ Watson, John Lucas, Flynn, Dragic, Jordan Crawford, Rudy Fernandaz, Shannon Brown..... They are all guys who would thrive in the same position and thats just from the top of my head.

Yes, Lin is playing very well. But he's had it set up perfectly for him, I don't care what anyone says, the guy was in the right place at the right time and took his chance by the scruff of the neck and ran with it. Yes, it takes a good player to do what he has been doing but there is plenty of guys that could also do it in the same situation.... It's not that hard to see, some people are simply blinded by the hype.
Give the guy his due's for doing what he has been doing the last 6 games, but let's see if he is really good enough to do it now that teams will adjust for him, he starts playing the better teams around the league and finally when Melo returns and starts taking most of his shots away!

I like Shannon Brown, even moreso post Lakers, but I don't think he has the playmaking ability. And John Lucas is excluded from any and all further discussion, much like Frederic Weiss haha

My Opinion is that The Only guy from that list that can break out is Goran Dragic and than the Europe Fan Base may just bump his prices up by only a little bit.

The card prices are just stupid, plain and simple.
John Lucas already showed signs of it Matt, when rose and Watson where our had a couple of 20 plus games. Fernandez, Augustine and Watson all can score 25 + giving the right opportunities, that's been proven too.

Dragic is the last one that could do it, the others have all proved it or shown it!!!!

Dragic has already proven himself heaps of times especially in Phoenix!!! The only thing he lacks is to keep backing it up game after game with not a good performance but great performances!!

You're right, I'm not talking about cards either. But I do agree that Dragic is the only player good enough out of that group that could carry a team like Lin has been doing.

The Knicks have a bit of a stinky team and should not be winning with Melo and Amare out. Lin is making great decisions (although turns it over a bit too much but he'll get better with that).

Because the key to this is that the Knicks have won 6 straight!!!!

They could'nt even do that with Amare and Melo in the team. I think the guy won't be going away. He's in a great offense plus he'll be the starting pg for the rest of the year and therefore be MAKING the decisions on wether or not to pass the ball. Amare did'nt seem too pissed that Lin was driving and taking two defenders with him so that he could get an open dunk.

Also Tyson Chandler had one of his BEST scoring games a few back with Lin dishing him the ball.

Even if teams scout and find his weakness, that's great news for the Knicks, because Lin will have to be guarded on the drive, maybe even help D will have to come. And who is gonna benefit???

Amare and Melo, that's who!

At the end of the day the Knicks are still not going to come out of the East. At BEST they are a 3rd place team in the east. But at least they've found a pg for the rest of the year.

Flynn, Augustine????? Are you serious? Those guys have been around for a little while now and are on junky teams that they could've broken out on. Not gonna happen dude.

Such a shame they're not showing the Knicks game today on ESPN. Would love to see if he can keep it going.

hahahaha
Just looked and saw Lin only had 8 pts so far and thought "what you doing kid???"

Then saw 10 assists so far!!!! He's doing a reverse Westbrook.... passing!
