2006 NBA Champs Miami Heat!

A few things i have to say!

FINALLY MIAMI HAS A CHAMPIONSHIP WOOT WOOT!

FINALLY ZO AND PAYTON HAVE RINGS!! BRING ON HALL OF FAME!!

UDONIS HASLEM IS POSSIBLY THE MOST UNDERRATED PF IN THE LEAGUE!

SHAQ HAS HIS 4TH RING!!

WADE IS GOING TO BE LEGENDARY!

PAT RILEY!

5 more rings and wade will be up with jordan and then you can compare the guy.. (only cos i see alot of talk with him being like jordan.. if only jordan had payton/zo/shaq/walker.. all allstars.. but at the same time all has beens.. but woulda been better than wennington/perdue/parish

Zo was second in MVP voting in the 98-99 season and third in the 99-00 season.
I think he has a chance be a HOFer. DPOY a couple of times, at least 7 All-Star appearances, 4 played, All-NBA first team etc etc. And now a championship. Not forgetting his college career and his community work. How is that different from say Drexler or Barkley, even though Charles was MVP? He does have more of a chance than GP.

well think id contribute to this thread and send my congrats to the Heat who came back against the odds to take it in 6. But, Wade will never come close to Jordan's greatness. For one Jordan CARRIED a team with really only one or two other stars to 6 Championships. Miami stacked their team with just about all the big name free agents at the start of the season. They had Zo, Payton and Posey come off the bench. I dont think anyone will come close to MJ, talent wise and all the accolades that came with it.
Wade and Bron will be HOF players eventually but they will never be better than MJ.
Happy to see Zo, Payton and Wade get rings but not to see Riely and Walker get rings.

Payton was like Andrew Gaze getting a ring for the Spurs...

He tried with Shaq in LA, and then again in Miami. Talk about a charity case!!!

I dont think Zo will make the HOF list, and Payton doesnt have a chance. If Payton gets in, then Rex Chapman should get in!!!

Anyone confirm for me if Ewing has made the list????? If he hasnt there's NO WAY that Zo should!

Give Zo another season as a starter and he'll make the HOF:)
I personally think he should make it, but my view is biased:lol: He has accomplished quite alot in his carrer, Funk put it best.
BTW Scotty, what's so special about Ewing? As far as I know he didn't win a championship, he didn't get Defensive POTY, I doubt he even made an NBA first team! Zo has more All-Star appearances than Ewing aswell. Anyone feel free to correct me, I know next to didly-squat about Ewings Career, lol. I just know Zo is better haha!

brad mate, do some research... :D

patrick ewing: 11 time all star, one of the 50 greatest of all time, 7 time all nba team, 3 time all defensive team, rookie of the year, 2 olympic gold medals, 13th all time scorer, leads the knicks all time in almost every stat category, ncaa championship with georgetown...

Ewing hasn't yet, but Hakeem is still yet to be inducted so Patrick might be waiting some time. 2yrs maybe

Thanks Jizzer, saves me doing the research... I think that summed it up. I'd say as far as careers go, Ewing has shat all over Zo, minus the ring, but a ring doesnt mean you're great... (see Andrew Gaze comment) - but dont get me wrong, Drewwy's achieved a lot in his career!

And if Dream isnt there yet, then both those dudes have a LOOOOONG wait!

Anyone agree that the 2006 Miami Heat won't be anywhere near the same team as the 2007 Miami Heat???

Payton, Zo, Walker, Shaq even, might not be there next season. (although since Shaq's come out and said they'll be winning again next year, he might still be in a Heat Uni).

i don't really think ZO will make it, although i believe he SHOULD, his comeback story to NBA Championship is one of the greatest and his ability everyone knows is phenomenal. His presence is so amazing that when he's on for Shaq, even though he's not a 20/10 guy anymore people still are so afraid.

Alonzo Mourning-
2-Time Defensive POY
7-Time All-Star Selectee
2-Time All-NBA Selectee
2-Time All-Defensive Selectee
2-Time USA Team (Gold Medals both times)

Altho, the reason he made only 2 all-defensive and all-nba teams was because he was in the same era as Ewing, D-Rob, Shaq and Hakeem, imagine if he was in this era. WOW!

Gary Payton-
1-Time Defensive POY
8-Time Defensive 1st Team
7-Time All-NBA Selectee
2-Time Olympic Gold Medallist
9-Time All-Star

Doesn't Gary definately warrant HOF? Everyone says he's a future HOF'er. Back in the day he was defiantely one of the best PG's around! 20+ ppg, 8+ apg, 2+ spg and only 2 turnovers! He has 21,500 points, 5,100 rebounds, 8,700 assists and 2,400 steals.

Who's afraid of Zo?? Dude, all thru the playoffs people attacked the rim when he was there.

Sure he got some blocks (see Game 6.... grrrrr) but no one was afraid to take it to him.

Still think you're dreaming with Payton tho mate. It's a long shot.

I think Payton and Zo will get into the HOF.. I know the likes of Ewing kills them both, but Payton did alot in his career, DPOY etc.. got his team to the finals, lead league in steals etc.. Zo did alot too.. we're just seeing these players as they have been the last few years.. dont forget, these guys dominated the 90's.. but then again, will tim bug make the HOF?

I think Gary Payton is a lock for the Hall of Fame.
Often referred to as one of the top 10 Point Guards of all time.
His defensive skills in the early and mid 90s were superb.

As inspirational as Mourning's comeback has been, I do not think he is HOF material.

i agree with you here, because it is true that we're only living our memories of them in the last few seasons.

The fact that Zo has been next to "bad" in the past 4-5 seasons has put a shadow over his entire career. Had he just retired after his 8 21/10/3.5 block seasons maybe we would consider him more dominant? The injury and attempted comebacks have put a shadow over everything including his stats. But then like I said before, I don't think he'll make it. Although I feel much more content that he's got his Championship, the only thing significant thing he lacks now is an MVP trophy which Karl Malone beat him out for one season.
