I find the omission of first Copeland from the XII and now Cutting from the XI very odd; its Cutting's home ground and the conditions would suit Copeland.
Fingers crossed Siddle, Patto and Starc can make me look silly.
New Zealand are in trouble at 4/94 at Lunch.
James Pattinson - 1/40 from 7 Overs
Mitchell Starc - 1/18 from 6 Overs
Peter Siddle - 1/16 from 7 Overs
Nathan Lyon - 1/15 from 5 Overs
Batsman Runs Balls 4's 6's
Brendon McCullum c Warner b Starc 34 51 7 0
Martin Guptill c Haddin b Siddle 13 34 1 0
Kane Williamson c Khawaja b Lyon 19 33 3 0
Ross Taylor b Pattinson 14 15 3 0
Debutants Pattinson and Starc bowled well, taking wickets but also going for runs. I felt Copeland should of played and nothing that happened today makes me feel any differently.
Vettori is clearly New Zealand's most reliable and consistent batsman, so getting him out quickly tomorrow morning is a priority.
Australia won the day, but not by as much as they could have after Clarke dropped a sitter and Warner missed a chance too.
Just re: Dan Vettori - how did our blokes bowl to him today? Unless I have long-term memory loss, I seem to remember Brett Lee attacking him on leg stump in 2001-ish in New Zealand, really tested him with bouncers and then the fuller one looking to hit leg peg.
