What's good fam?

This isn't your usual low tier no name scrub skip20 mailday, I actually had a few Jordans I had acquired so thought I'd share them around because he seems like quite a popular fellow around here...

I;ve also taken a break from my sh*t scanner and have ried to capture the images using my sh*t phone, not sure if the end result is any better, but any tips ofro feedback greatly appreciated. I can never seem to get the angle right to avoid reflections.

1991-92 NBA Hoops - McDonald's - just a variation of the typical base card with orange highlighting over the stats on the back. An iconic card which I'm sure we've all ahd in our hands at some point. Bulls, 23, MVP just about sums eveything up perfectly from that era!

Speaking of the 90s - they called and want this fashion statmeent back... I wonder where Panini got their inspiration for their rather popular SLAM insert series?!

2003-04 Upper Deck Victory -
just a couple of base cards, but damn they look good. Makes me want to put the set together....

I have a real soft spot for smaple and promotional cards, sort of like the first offering if you will...

1999-00 Upper Deck MVP - Sample - Silver Script - not only a sample card but the silver facsimile sig too! About as close as I'll get to an Jordan auto! On a totally unrelated note, if anyone has a stack of Prosigs base lying around please get in touch!

1999-00 Upper Deck NBA Legends - Sample - really like the way they incorporated the use of the raised basketball like texture on the side.

2002-03 Upper Deck - Dunkvision - just another insert set chase which I think I've basically put together now, nothing sensational, but I love the look of a completed set. People tend to forget with MJ's resume he was a dunk champ too.

1997-98 Bowman's Best - just another base card, but they sure as heck don't make base cards like this anymore! Vivd, bright and colourful - beautiful in hand. Camera did a better job than the scanner, but still doesn't do this card justice.

1995-96 Topps - Spark Plugs - after looking at the Jordan in hand, I just knew I had to do the set chase! Very condition sensitive though.

1998-99 Upper Deck Ionix - Area 23 - Another great looking set. Picked up the same card twice for pretty cheap, might have to NOT get started on this one.

1997-98 Topps - Season's Best these cards have a fair bit of hobby love and demand behind them. They really do pop under the light so I can understand why....

2019 Leaf In The Game Used Sports - Four Sport Phenoms Quad Relics #/30 - it's been a while since I've picked up a MJ game used jersey. Admittedly this is Leaf, and not the prettiest gal at the ball, but big names in all the major US psorts, HOfers all the way...well except for Fernando, he kind of crashed the party.

Well, that's it for now, thanks for having a looka and a read. Comments and likes always appreciated.

Nice mailday. As much as I am impressed by the high end maildays members post I definitely enjoy the ones that contain some cards I actually own a lot more!

What are your thoughts on Leaf? I've never managed to pull the trigger on buying anything from them. (If I was to be brutally honest their cards make me throw up in my mouth a little. They seem to sell for decent prices though so there must be a reasonable degree of hobby love out there.)

What a great bunch of MJs. I'm a sucker for the raised basketball texture too. The red victory card looks fantastic. That UD Hoop magazine is incredible 😂

"Life is like a box of chocolates....." I guess it's alwasy good to look at at the top tier cards in our hobby, but just as nice to look at stuff we may be tinkerng away with ourselves. It's all the smae hobby, just do what you enjoy doing.

As for Leaf, I definitely prefer licensed NBA uniform products, then colleage uniform woudl be a step down and then unlicensed products a step down from that. Peopel want to see MJ in a Bulls jersey, not a Tarheels jersey and definitely not a plain generic jersey. It all depnds on the card though and how much of a discount the college or unlicensed products are going for. For example that MJ jersey card with a couple fo other HOFers from other sports was a fraction of the price of a licensed MJ jersey card, so I pulled the trigger. Leaf tended to use all game used materials for example which is a nice rarity when compard to modern products 'not associated with any game or event". I can;t necessarily prove it, but it sems to me as though Leaf tends to have more on card autos, fairly decent checklists too normally.

Here's a vid to check out re Leaf's most recent products and how they stack up, one of the key consideratiosn being price point. You can pull Steph Curry auto ou tof Leaf, just depends how much of a premium you place on that Warriors uniform pic and overall polish.

I'm surprised that raised baksetball texture doesn't feature more prominently. Victory is a lowe tier set, but the shine, blign and card designs always appealed to me. The Hoop card just captures an era - kind of like the SLAM insert meets those fashion off the court cards.

Quality mailday @skip20 ! Love the Shooting Stars/Seasons Best!

I've found it better not doing photos in daytime light. And I have a little overhead USB powered light where you can also adjust the warmth a few shades.

Love those 90's base and inserts, that Bowmans is a ripper. One of my fav sets.
Yes, the trend these days for higher end products is to go for either all white or all black mono-colour schemes. The bright colours and in yoru face designs fromt he 90s seem to be a thing of the past...

I was abit annoyed that the card incurred some damage somewhere along the line from me acquiring it to me having it in hand. Wasn;t sure why these cardds went at such a premium, but in hand they certainly do look like a match winner.

Last lot I took under a sort of lamp, definitely improved clarity but ended up loking a bit dark overall, will see the end result in my next mailday.

Great taste as always skip. I LOVED the spark plugs set as a kid, so that MJ is one of my favs.

Decided to do the set chase now that I have the MJ, will just be a matter of getting decent cards as these are extremely condition sensitive.

some nice ones in there mate. i'm interested in that sample silver sig. you got a pic of the back of it?? i'm on the hunt for the pippen!!!
Thanks mate, the back doesn;t have sample plastered all over it - so not an easy oen to tell straight off the bat.
