RIP Arthur Beetson!!

Yeah i just ordered Arthur beetson from cardzone at $500 each and ordered 5 of them and in a matter of minutes he rang me to tell me there is only 1 left !
I told him if he had more ill buy them at that price and he assured me there are no more but i rekon he does because he knows arthur died today and he said he can sell the cards for over 800 dollars !! If i find out that he is selling more and he put the price up ill stop buying from that pig also !
 
So your upset that Wang may be trying to profit by increasing the price - isnt that what your doing trying to buy 5 for $500?
 
I actually have less of a problem with putting up the price on a card you already own. It is obviously worth more now.
Trying to quickly snap them all up on the low so you can sell on the high is alot worse imo.
 
ha ha ha i just no he was not going to sell five to me thats why he rang me Owen he is not that stupid he wanted to check and to shut you all up i need the card and to get it at that price now its a bargain and in fact as a respect to his passing check out my website ive taken the arthur beetson Centenary signature off i had him at $1200 and ive got 2 of him to sell and did not put that price up ive had those price's way before his passing Owen seen them at the Show in Newcastle to prove it !
 
I'm not a fan of NRL being a Melbourne man but I had the pleasure of listening to him at the card show in Leichhardt and that man could spin a yarn, It was tragic the way he went and I think those people who want to profit off his death are to put it nicely carp.

I believe Gary/westriot has a video of him speaking at that Card Show so hit him up if your interested.
 
I dont have 2500 grand to give mate i know Steve very well Peter it was a stunt we had a laugh when he called me !
It wouldve been nice to get all at that price although wouldve been a great investment only if i had the cash !
Anyway it started by me going to buy 8088edges Beetson card because i new he had it for 500 so when i got into ebay and seen that he put the price up this morning to 900 i freaked out and it did not occur to me to see what wangy had because ive stopped buying from him so when 1967sharks told us here that cardzone had it for 500 i quickly went there and bought it from him so it is a bargain now and im happy.
I bet anybody out there wouldve done the same, all collectors would like to get cheap cards and not pay overs so all you out there trying to call me a crub do so at your own expence !
The people u really need to rip into to are 8088edge and the dope at the markets rarecollectables steve , i dont sell to make a living they do !

It is truely a sad day for the Rugby League community and the Indigenous community. They have lost a great ambassador and role model. Living on the Coast and knowing one of your childhood heroes passed away just up the road is chilling. My childhood heroes were meant to be invinsible. The realisation that they aren't hit me when my biggest hero, Peter Brock, died 5 yeras ago. I was a Roosters fan in the late 70s and right through the 80s until the Raiders came on the scene so Artie to me was this larger than life Superman.

I saw him just over 2 months ago at an indigenous carnival on the Coast and he was still this larger than life Superman even though he looked very overweight. Whilst its a shock to hear that Artie died of a heart attack, it is no surprise that a heart attack could claim his life at any time.

I was going to go into a speel which justified the sale of a deceased signature on Ebay, but I just want to say this. I have items put aside from several sportsmen and sportmen that have died, Indy drivers Greg Moore and Dan Wheldon, Peter Brock and Artie and I've said "I will put this aside because one day he will pass away and it will be worth alot more to help my childrens future." You don't want the celeb to pass away but its the nature of collecting. I don't believe you can dictate a price, buyers tell you what they are willing to pay through bidding. $5000 for a football just because it has Arties name on it is beyond a joke and totally disrespectful. If someone has an item and starts the bidding at 0.99c... I don't have a problem with that.

R.I.P Big Artie, You were a champion and a true legend and will be missed.
 
Thats all true DK but i think the point being made is that you cant really get mad at Wang and 8088edge for doubling the price of the card when you are looking to buy it from them for $500 and do the same thing.

Wang was never going to sell you 5 cards for $2,500 for you to flip them for double that. I think you did pretty well to get one out of him for $500. I will be interested to see what he is selling them for tomorrow.

There is nothing wrong for picking them up on the cheap but Wang and 8088edge are not stupid.
 
I don't have a problem with people increasing their prices after this horrible news ... after all, presumably the cards will be in greater demand now. Buying them to sell them at a profit because of the death is something I don't think is particularly noble.

But that's really besides the point, the main thing is rest in peace Artie ... thank you for all you did for the sport of rugby league. From the little footage I've seen, your legend will never die.
 
I have one. You can have it for $5000.

But I won't sell it, even for that price. It's a piece for the collection and for the kids/grandkids.

The day I busted it, I was sooooo over the moon. Of all the Immortal sigs, I was stoked to get his. Locked in a safe deposit box at CBA now.

RL needed more Artie Beetson's. The bloke knew everything inside out. The Ind Commish could have done far worse than have him as an advisor. Too late now, sadly.

I dont buy to resell i am a collector like you and the way i get alot of spare cards to sell is by trading customers like yourself to sell at fairs and shows to judge me like them is wrong they do it for a living mate i dont !
The issue i have is they announced his death this morning and a matter of minutes his price went up buy 400 dollars i understand do what i did take it off and in a months time do it but not on the same day of passing no way it wrong i dont care what anybody thinks.

still coming to terms with this tragic news. had a day or so of reliving his greatness on the park and then started thinking about his connection with the great jack gibson and ron massey. this is where he will be missed the most in my opinion, assessing the game amongst the elite judges of the game ( the great wb is also part of this brotherhood), saying his piece without fear and with the best interests of the game at heart. thanks for your thoughts and actions artie, the game is a better place for your contribution
