Hey all,

As some may remember, ive only recently returned to the card collecting scene after losing interest around 1996, which means ive missed just about everything that has happened since.

I returned to the scene briefly in 2008 with about ten packets of 2008 Champions but it was at the end of the series and thats all i ended up getting.

Came back into it this year about a week before the release of the Strike series, ended up getting 3 boxes of it and am thoroughly impressed with the series. I also collected the full set of 2011 Champions with my 5 year old son and hes really enjoying the whole experience of card collecting.

My dilemma is- im done with the 2011 releases (except for my plans to gradually complete the Top Prospects set from Strike), and with months to go before a new set next year, my need for new cards is unsatisfied.

Ive been looking back at the past ten years of Select releases, and some boxes are harder to come by than others, and the prices vary greatly.

I dont want to pump a whole load of money into old cards, so the plan is to grab a box here and there, i plan on getting the 2010 Champions box because the price is right and its perfect for my son, but i need something a bit more 'collectable'... So what do you guys recommend?

Id like to stay below $200 a box if possible.

Panthers signature card are a big draw for me.

I like the look of 2007 Invincible and the 2009 Classic, but what do you guys think?

Stick to the hobby releases. They will cost you more but will be worth more in the long run.

I would start with 2005 Power - only had a release of 3,500 boxes (smallest ever). These will become hard to find in future years.

I agree but i am a bit partial to the 2009 classics myself

^^Your right there. And if you get a cheap box - expect it to come from a searched case (saw a box of Classic go for $108 Sunday night which sounds great but i can assure you it was from a searched box).

Im guessing 'Searched' = busted case until case hit is found and then sell off remaining boxes... right?

I know busting boxes is great, but I would probably by the single cards and sets as will probably work out alot cheaper than buying the boxes

Now thats a good idea. I might grab the common sets for cheap and buy/trade for the inserts i want.

Yep, i've never bought a box off eBay because i consider them all searched. I also don't bother selling sealed boxes on eBay because all buyers already assume the boxes are searched and they sell for slightly below retail price anyway :)

If you are really after some unsearched hobby boxes i will always consider running a case break if you can get enough people interested....and to agree on the series. ;)

Or you could always start some seperate threads and then get someone else to do the share lol :goat: Talk about dejavu.
