I need thoughts about the NRL Select Trading Card 2011!

It doesn't matter what series. Just looking for comments in general about the set-up of them, delivery, packaging and what you and everyone else looks for when buying intothese cards. Thanks!

I do not work for Select I'm just looking for comments about them. I am interested :)

haha, just found it odd that Ellie, has asked the same question in the NRL & AFL section, so assumed that she either worked for them , or has been engaged by them, but as she said No to both those, my next assumption is that she wants to produce cards, maybe buy the licence for these :)
If so can i have a sample of your "product" :)

Thats a warm welcome

im not looking to do that either hahaha. just looking to get involved in them with my brother but i want to make sure im not wasting my money.

 You opened a pandora's box with this thread mate

2011 Champions
Bad points....
Poor Production Quality,
The Commons are ****, some of players playing and then just faces and then the fake action shots:mad:
The parrafoils were ok but the quality let them down
The Gems, Well let me just say this about the gems....****, ****, ****, ****, ****,:mad::mad::mad::mad:
The Star sigs have an issue with signature quality, lines through the sig etc

Good Points....
The Rookies, i thought that is a good release if it doesnt get flogged to death like the GEMS
The Star Sigs, it was nice to see the re-introduction of a series 1 sig set

2011 Strike
Bad Points....
Way too many CP's and TOTY's, i dont like them that much but too have a double lot was annoying
The predictors look ok but to have top try scorers again is dissapointing
Not enough different inserts, ie 1 per box or 1 per 2 boxes etc

Good Points
Nice and thick card stock with an awesome finish to them
No JDC's
The quality of the awards cards
The numbering of the Awards cards
The top prospects had some decent players in them this year

I may add a thing or 2 when i think of it a bit more....

I cant really be bothered going through this subject again but here are some threads that may give you an overview of everyone's thoughts

who do you work for Select, or have you been engaged by them...

I had the same thought. Then i remembered that Select dont give a **** about anyones thoughts on their products.

my thoughts are-
series 1 Negative- alot of damaged cards per box, star signature cards looked a bit cheap and issues with signatures, another set of gem cards grrrr!

series 1 positive- nice looking parralel set, nice looking rookie cards

series 2 negative- opening up to 10 packs in a row and getting all commons( bit crazy at about $5 a pack), needs a 1 in 2 box insert to pick the value up per box(would be hard for sellers to buy a box and actually make much money.

series 2 poisitive- nice loking awards cards, nice looking sig redemptions

Series 2 (Strike) is a winner IMO.

Cards were top quality, inserts are nice, and the Sig Redemptions are awesome, great feeling when you find one.

A bit pricey though, but worth it.

My summary of 2011 Champions (series 1) - BORING and PREDICTABLE.

My summary of 2011 Strike (series 2) - Somewhat better. I liked this series.

My summary of Select - Select are the reason I didn't even purchase a full box of Strike and have not bought a pack since the initial release of the series and will not be buying packs from the 2012 series. I will be purchasing cheap sets off Ebay, they seem to care about their customers more than Select do.
