Got shilled on ebay - what should i do?

Tell the seller your reporting to him for shillbidding, you may need to explain the term to him, and your not paying for the item, report to ebay as well with appropiate evidence...

If you click on the bid history there is me and someone else that have bid on the item. Click on the middle bidder and you will see that he has bid on 8 items all with the one seller. Dead giveaway.

im not sure you can be positive this is shill bidding. just as likely to be a brand new member who has made his first bids from this particular seller. its not like hes got loads of total bids...
if it was blatant, id report it. e-bay are pretty quick in dealing with these matters.

I don't understand why eBay bothers catching shill bidders, they actually get more money out of the sale if the final price is higher... even if the shill bidder ends up winning, the seller might sacrifice the small final value fee to act like the sale is legit... and even if the seller is cheap enough to file for non paying bidder, ebay would have already made enough money from the listing fee and the seller is guaranteed to list the same item again... so once again, ebay wins again.

From what we have read in another thread, eBay doesn't seem to care too much about justice... who's right, who's wrong... so why catch shill bidders!! what's the benefit to them?

You may have caught him Owen but with 0 FB, they're likely to have a care factor of 0 too. They'll just open another account.
I'm not sure of how Ebay processes work but given the low value of the item, they'll also have a care factor of close to 0. If they chase it up I'm sure it'll be waaaaaaaaaay down their investigative priority list

im sorry this happened. but once again, another reason to use a sniper bid site.
i use that for every auction on ebay. stops the shill bidding.

as mischa said, ebay dont give a toss.

It's called integrity, or at least a big corporation should attempt to show some, as for individuals shafting/cheating will eventually catch up with them one way or another....

Bid activity (%) with this seller: 100% - Shill.
I can take a trip down to Rockingham to recover the $5 hahaha
Sucks mate, small seller with a 0FB shill-account, nothing much can be done other than letting the tosser know he isn't as smart as he thinks he is..
If you're happy with the final price, I'd probably just pay it and move on. If you let him know you're onto him, who knows what else he will do, maybe send an envelope with some empty Kit-Kat wrappers instead of the item you bought.

Another dumb question what is a sniper bid site?

Its a program that places your bid at the last second. Give other bidders no chance to respond to your bids. Type it into google - there are a few out there.

Solution: Pay, receive items... then let him know your onto him. Maybe tell him ebay is investigating him, just to rattle him a little.

Doesn't always work though.

eBay don't always do anything about shillers, they usually could care less.

Doesn't always work though.

What do you mean it "doesn't always work"? Yes, if your bid isn't high enough then obviously you won't get it, just make sure to put in a high enough bid that you're willing to pay and then you don't have anything to worry about. :)

Not if it's ebay US... they are useless. I 'won' an item purely to expose a shiller. I reported it about 3 times. The seller was a tard as well, kept sending me messages intended for other buyers and I told him he was shilling and I wasn't paying.
Then, after a while, I get a non-paying claim against me. I messaged ebay and got an emailed back saying they haven't read the message. Sent another, got another. Today, I got the non-paying strike against me. So, took this long, it was completely obvious shilling, and.... they do nothing.
At least I got to neg on the *****, unless he's appealed it...
