2011 Australia v Sri Lanka Test Series (Spoilers)

If you wanna use averages as a point of debate.

Hughes test average: 37.60
Phil Jaques test average: 47.47
Hodge test average: 55.88

Hodge deserved to play 70 plus tests for Australia.

Jaques average is over pretty much the same amount of innings to
Hughes and he had more hundreds.

Hughes may have shield runs behind him but that doesn't matter diddly squat. You are based on your performances at the top level. Hughes had a good start, but then once bowlers found his weaknesses it all fell apart.

Unfortunately your one sided bromance with Hughes won't let you see that he's had his chance and there is better options.

If he has such a great shield average let's send him back there so he can bully his way to a few more centuries on North Sydney Oval.

Grow up you ******.

take it easy.

Think it aids my argument though, Khawaja in at 6, Marsh at 2 and Hughes OUT!

Guys stop with the baiting. Discuss the test by all means but all ou are doing here is trying to get a response out of another member. Please stop it.

The most obvious contrast between Marsh and Hughes comes from the footwoork and body positions they use at the crease.

Hughes is jumpy, like a cat pouncing on a ball of yarn. He is almost exclusively an off-side player because of how far towards leg stump he stands, having to always reach for the ball. Any nudges or glances to the leg side look awkward for him. His head is never completely over the ball.

Marsh is more serene, as though he is slow waltzing to the ball. He is far better balanced, and has been able to glance, whip and cover/straight drive during both test innings so far because of it. Marsh reminds me of the "sniff the leather" adage with his head position.

Shaun Marsh has underperformed at Shield Level for as good a player as he is, but he is probably a more hardened and determined player because of it. Mark Waugh, Greg Blewett and Michael Clarke hit brilliant debut hundreds, but I really enjoyed watching Marsh bat last weekend, he was solid and dependable.

Friggin' Hughes! I'm p*ssed off!

IMO I though he should have been dropped and Marsh should have opened with Watson!

It's exactly what happened anyways!

Then Clarke comes in and and gets out to ANOTHER ball he should have left alone.....Grrrrr

I hope Marsh & Hussey can bat out the day to ballance it in our favour!

next test khawaja in, hughes out. has to happen.

This should have happened THIS Test FFS (Hughes out that is).

Not sh*t stirring here BTW, I am just sick of the lives he has been given, especially when Kat was in MUCH better form!
