OK i've been busy planning and coming up with ideas for this long overdue get together. Talks are still happening and hopefully it gets sandwiched with a NBL game and an actual card show here in Melbourne too for all to attend, trade and buy. Its going to take a lot of work but should be well worth it in the end.
So this is what I have at the moment.
The entire front bar at the Oxford scholar here in Melbourne. Closed just for our function with their giant screen showing NBA games and highlights. Security provided and those that are underage maybe just acompanied by an adult. Food and drinks available the whole time at great prices.
There will be a an Ozcards awards with prizes of boxes, gear and autos handed out to the winners. Im liking awards that are more of the fun variety than ones that are speculative like best collection etc.

Most likely to send 1000 PM's for a one card trade deal
The biggest PC of a dodgey player

As well as a raffle on the day/night for all to enter to win a major prize. This will be an autographed jersey personally signed to the winner to be recieved in the mail with pics of him signing it etc.
Col at NW supplies is also up for donating and selling me some stuff at cost price for this event. That help is much appreicated Col and we are all glad to have you aboard here. Anyone else willing to donate boxes, cards etc would be most appreciated :-D All will got to winners or awards and maybe a second raffle etc.
Guest speakers and appearances at the moment are penciled in as former Melbourne Tiger championship player Warrick Giddey. Please don't heckle Warrick about his three point shooting [-X
For those out of staters I'll work on getting a 'mates rates' deal at one of the citys hotels.
The time I was actually thinking off was around the second or first week of Jan. Usually a slower time of the year and most are on hols or off work etc. Would tie in with the Tigers vs Dragons game here in Melbourne too ;-)
What I need is feedback from members about the month it should be in and just how many are interested. By all means bring kids, girlfriends and family along too.
If it all works out it will be the pub function, card show and NBL game in it for most. Thats all still a pipedream but it may all fall into place.
Hopefully this becomes an anual event and moves from captiol city to city each year so I don't go mad organising it ever year LOL
