This guy must have the record for number of times stood down in a season.

IMO - his contract should be torn up however i fear the Roosters are in the process of cranking up the excuse machine for him.

What does everyone else think?

I reckon they need to deregister his contract as well. Talent shouldn't determine how many chances you get!

Without knowing the ins and outs of the contract process between the player, club and NRL I don't see how they could de-register him for breaking a club imposed 2 week ban. To be honest I dislike the idea of imposed bans on players such as no booze etc, jeez pilots and neurosurgeons are permitted to consume alcohol so many hours before they have to fly etc. Unless the bans are specifically a part of that players or the entire rosters contract then I think they are unfair.

I know he's a serial offender but hes only let his team mates down and should answer to them not the public
He didnt abuse anybody, get in a fight, p..s in the street, s..t in the corridor, bash his missus or drive home and they had the next day off.
Who does the taxi driver think he is dobbing them in. They didnt spew in the taxi how many other drunks does he take home and then ring their bosses?
Also Carney's an alchoholic you dont just say I'm gonna stop drinking and stop or alchoholism wouldnt exist.
I'm more concerned that a. Nate Miles is in the leadership gruop & b. He was also out drinking

I think fair enough, drink, have a good time. But when your high profile like these guys are - be sensible - they know that it will be in the news if they play up or anything. So why do they do it? It gives the club a bad name and the game a bad name.

Old article...but it really does show how places now label ALL football players because of the serial offenders Panthers get frog marched | thetelegraph.com.au

Carney wont be sacked. The Roosters will stick up for him again and again - like they always do

Fair Dinkum...it's not rocket science. You're on big money - Buy a big house - Turn a large room into a Man Cave with a bar, big screen tv, surround sound - Then invite people to your house for a quiet drink!!! Stop getting photographed at pubs at 2am in the morning!!! It doesn't look good and the media will be all over you!

It will still make the papers - happened to Willie Mason coach smelt alchohol on his breath after he was drinkin at home when they werent supposed to be drinkin and he copped a club fine and a back page story. Not to mention the Joel Monaghan saga
Once upon a time the journalists were the ones drinkin with them

I would hope they are not getting blind rotten drunk to the point that the coach can smell it the next morning. Save that for the offseason. I'm talking about a small social gathering with a couple of quiet drinks with mates. It looks like that was all the were doing Monday night.

He didn't do anything illegal. He had a few drinks. Most footy players have a few drinks every now and then. This is another storm in a tea cup. Provided he turns up for work and performs, who cares. If he has the same amount of drinks at home with mates, no-one hears about it because the press don't have the opportunity to know about it and blow it out of proportion.

I think its a little different here Blade. If your in team with 26 other guys and you all have a meeting and ALL agree to a booze ban and then go out and break its a hell of a slap in the face for the rest of your team mates.

Especially with all the rest of the crap the team has had to put up with this season from him. I bet there are a couple of guys in the Roosters locker room that want to kick the crap out of him right now.

i'm with you owen on the nate myles leadership group issue, as if this bloke is club leadership material. and carney, well he is just a spoilt brat who has never had to face up to his actions, a troubling trend that seems to be on the increase. these blokes call themselves men but have the attitudes of schoolkids

Nothing story, as if he should lose his job for that!

If you lost your job for that sort of thing I'd have been sacked about 10,000 times by now.

Im sorry - but his guy is a complete grub. He played this BS about being an alcoholic and getting help to avoid being thrown in jail by a court and getting sacked by his club......and look what he goes out and does.

Its not the individual incident here but its the rap sheet as long as his arm that makes this a story.

At some stage you have to pay for your actions - its time for him to go.

If he was an u/20's player or a no name he would have been gone ages ago, just like the 2 U/20's players who the rooster cut/sacked straight away, after getting on the piss and also doing a "Myles"

send him over to penrith. we have daine laurie who blows up cars, throws molotov's at child care centres. arana taumata who steals prescription pads. todd carney would be an immaculate saint over here.

Lets guess the punishement for the 3 of them
Myles: will be sacked, as he is leaving no big deal
FPN: will either be sacked or suspended till the end of the year, as the rooster have no hope of playing semi's not a big deal if he misses out that have a few young backrowers to take over, i have also heard that have not been happy with his progress so would not surprise me if they cut him
Carney: This is the one which will really test the rooster's, whether they are fair dinkum or not, if he stays they will find it hard to discipline any other player, which in turn will cause disharmony, if they cut him, they should offer to help him with his issues, his contract money for next should be used to help him, the NRL will also need to deregister him for a year or two...
