I seem to have lost my Mojo when it comes to TTM collecting. Of the dozen or so items sent over the last 6-8 weeks, I've only got back two :(

Not sure how to get out of this slump. Anyone got any ideas? :D

I have a heap of outstanding, mainly all C/O NSW cricket. I rang and asked to check the boys pigeon holes months ago and they were all gone. I was advised that the players managers clean out there clients pigeons holes a lot of the time. Anyhow, they occasionally arrive in dribs and drabs. they definetly won't return quickly, but they may still return :)

Here's hoping you're right!! I had let my collection stagnate a bit over the years. It's only recently, after spending more time on OCT and envying all those nice maildays of that young 15(?) year old punk, Walshy, that I've gotten motivated again. In fact, it's the first time ever that I've spent so much time and effort focusing on mainly signed collector cards. It's a nice goal to try and get a set of collector cards all signed. Difficult, but I will persevere!! :)

I've received 10 cricket compared to 30 league in the last 8-10 weeks. Cricket has really slowed down. I've actually stopped sending cricket all together.

Hope the slump ends soon, maybe send to a player you've received from before. Give Darren Lehmann a go via QLD cricket. Always had a quick result from him.

Considering the amount of personally signed cards I have seen on eBay (of late) I am not surprised there are less and less coming back.......I have never sold a card I got personally signed. Once when asking Glenn McGrath to sign a card he asked me "What are you going to do with this" before signing it. This would indicate the players are aware of what goes on so I find it disappointing for those of you you who do keep all your TTM and personally signed cards.

I wonder if it's too early to celebrate. Had a minor breakthrough with regards to the slump. Received some TTM from David Boon and am told some Matthew Hayden cards are in the mail!!

@Rekless - I was thinking about writing to Darren Lehmann. I've only been holding off as I went on a work trip to Broken Hill a few weeks ago and met the owners of the Tidvill Pub, which is part owned by Lehmann. They were extremely kind to me at the pub and said they would get Lehmann to sign something and send it along to me, but as is often the case with these things, this has not happened. I just didn't want to be seen as double dipping, in case they were fair dinkum about getting something across to me :)

@Richo - you're absolutely right, the amount of TTMs ending up on ebay is always a bad sign for genuine collectors. I recently got a "knock back" from Steve Waugh and wouldn't at all be surprised if some of my TTMs are sitting in a bin someplace.

@pineneedlebeetle - One of my MIAs is a nice ooh aah caricature. I do hope that turns up one day. I sent that one c/o cricket NSW as his foundation people told me he wasn't signing anything, so it would have been pointless to send items through them!

Just a bit more salt to the wound... Got two more back today.

I hate you man .... lol

I got McGrath in person and TTM so I think you may still get that one back!

Not surprised about Steve Waugh not signing.....disappointed though; not at him but at the greedy sh*ts who are only in it to make some $$$ :( It's a joke how many I see on eBay and the more it occurs the more you will see players refusing to sign - And I don't blame them one bit!

Well i differ somewhat.
I believe the guys have been in a fortunate position and have been paid accordingly.
If they weren't in that position they're signature would be worth jacks--t. So if a lowly civilian can get a few dollars for a signed card and make a little money on the side, no problem at all.
Take Mark TAYLOR (great bloke, signs heaps of stuff with no prob) He is sponsored by a air conditoning mob and gets paid for it.
I purchase the air conditoner and the company profits. It's the same thing in reverse. the guys like Steve WAUGH and McGRATH are complaining because they're not getting any cabbage out of it and it cheapens their signed items they sell elsewhere. The guys are set for life.
cheers

The fact that they are set for life doesn't mean they owe anyone else a living, does it? It's their signature, if they choose not to share it with anyone, that's gotta be their prerogative hasn't it?

Don't get me wrong, I don't care if you personally feel that it's okay to obtain their autographs and then profit from them. I'm just saying that if cricketers have an issue with their signatures being used to line someone's pockets, I guess they have the right to feel that way!! We, the public don't own these guys. We follow them because of their skills and ability to entertain us and we are a fickle lot, so I don't think they owe us anything in return.

After their retirement they should dissapear from the spotlight then however they choose to live of their status and profit from us, (Purchasing their sponsors products) so it is resiprocated. I have no problem with either.

Funny the older guys ( Fred JONES, John BUCKNALL) have no problem signing things. Maybe because they are closer to the public
than the WAUGHS. McGRATH etc high and mighties.
