We had a thread a while back for the "you most hated" players, well how about the nicest guys you have meet....

For me, obviously will be dominated by StGeorge players, in no particular order

Steve Matai (yes a top bloke)

Those are the only players ive really sat down and talked to for longer then half an hour. and they were all great, seemed very interested in the cards too.

and while im at it, shane rodney and ben ross, they gave me one of their #0 or player cards for future forces in the past, great blokes as well.
 
Keeping with the dragons theme, i would say ben hornby. Ill never forget me and a mate seeing him in a bar after they beat the warriors. my mate had 10 on him to be first try scorer. As we were waiting to order a drink he happened to be standing right next to us. My mate (who is a tragic dragons fan) said gday and congratulations on the game etc. Then he mentioned the bet he had on him in a totally friendly way, everyone had a laugh and ben handed him a tener and said "Sorry i didnt get there for ya mate, buy yourself a drink". Me and my mate were stunned lol. It was really random. My mate tried to hand it back but Ben didnt want a bar of it lol. Top bloke.

Also Brad Fittler, Ryan Girdler, steve Walters and adrian morley were all super super top blokes to meet. Really nice.
 
Steve Simpson - anyone who is out with their mates on a Saturday night and is happy enough for a very drunk me to come up and get an autograph and photo is a good guy because in that situation i would have told myself to p*ss off.
 
From the Dogs I'd nominate #1 as Michael Hodgson, followed by Andrew Ryan. Both really friendly and approachable.
Laurie Daley was fantastic with the punters last night after the Eels V Storm match

This is exactly who I was going to say. Really friendly genuine guy.

I got inside a Knights dressing room back in 2001 and he was the friendliest along with Robbie O'Davis.

One other is Brian Carney, got a photo with him on the sideline last year after the Four Nations final and he was super-nice ... he was amazed that I'd travelled from NZ to watch the game.
 
Troy Thompson, not just one of the nicest footballers, but one of the nicest people you will meet.

Others are Shaun Fensom, Terry Campese, Matt Orford, Alan Tongue, Jarrod Croker, Preston Campbell, Michael Hodgson
 
For me, Preston Campbell is an outstanding person. He is the most humble person I have ever met and if you have a story, he is genuinely interested in what you have to say.

I agree with everyone who has mentioned Michael Hodgson also in my list would be Will Zillman rating second to Preston. Matt Gillett, Alex Glenn (Lexxie is a good guy), Ashton Sims and Chris "Choppy" Close

Oh yeah... Anthony Watmough... NOT!!!
 
a number of the old steelers were great blokes: mary mcgregor, girds, johnny simon and andy gregory. but my favourite of all is david peachey, just a legend of a bloke.

I met a fair few guys at an origin drinks night in bondi a few years back and all the NSw team and legends were great. Inparticularly
Past players Freddy, MG, blocker and johns brothers
Present players Matt king, mini and mark gasnier
All were great guys to have a chat with.
