I recieved this automated email...

it is not the whole "hiding" your feedback that worries people i think it is more the fact that buyers cannot see who there competition is, and who they are actually bidding against.

i actually have more people that buy off me outside of ebay now, due to built up trust. ebay is more of an advertisement for some of the stock i have and i guess this would go in the "why does feedback matter basket" as nobody gets feedback when we deal outside of ebay it is just a trust issue unless you are buying off me through oztraders which is becoming more frequent as buyers get the boxes cheaper as i don't have to pay ebay fees or oztraders fee's;) (don't get any idea's mods:p )

You know i didn't even know people (the buyers) thought this until recently. Its only through people telling you that you can adjust to the marketplace. And selling on ozcards or in person is better anyhow. More trust, more personal, and less fees to feebay.

All i know is that profits from NBA Basketball Boxes have been rapidly falling since i started selling in early 2006. I thought id get more support for trying to make the market more competitive but i guess its not the case. Im just getting slandered and the like for trying to tackle the market by the balls.

i think competition is a good thing:) and i don't think that profit's are falling at all.
i think it all depends on how much you can get it for to begin with, for example one week a you might be able to buy a box of 06-07 reflections for $90 the next week they are $80, that is what drops your profits down.

i think we all know this year that if we a prepared to wait a month or so from release date then all these boxes/cases will be going down in price drastically with the exception of sp game used/hardcourt and maybe hot prospects and bowman elevation will be holding in there aswell.

i don't think there is a big enough market in australia to "tackle it by the balls" although there is steady growth but not huge were you can just make a $5 profit per box and be happy

well i guess that it is good that you found out=D> =D> =D>

ebay sucks ass to put it bluntly, but it is makes the world a larger place.

i can't imagine selling boxes of cards to buyers in spain/france etc without ebay or even selling to buyers back in the u.s(why they want to buy from some guy from the land downunder i have no idea but it is there choice to pay double in postage  )

the way i see it is it's ebay or ????????

it is great advertising that's for sure and i would pay more for my advertising but i don't have too because of ebay

When i meant tackle by the balls i meant make the market a lot more fairer on ebay, as it has and is still monopolised. I think i had some success but not as much as id have liked because there are some people who are still sceptical of me.

We all know what happens in a monopoly, the seller can charge more for products compared to a market which is more competitive.

And i agree. Not many basketball cards and boxes hold their value anymore. Good ol Exquisite.

Thats right guys, Westy i think your better off here mate. We are all one big happy community with new collectors joining us each week. We have no fees here so when ya list boxes and stuff its all free, dont get me wrong i like Ebay, but the fee's they charge i dont see how anyone could make a profit off it.

So all come to ozcards :)

Now im kinda glad I posted this cos it's good to get things out in the open from a customer point of view and a sellers point of view. More gets solved that way I reckon.

Yeh thanks for the opening arms :) But its good to talk about these things as opposed to not listening. It would have been easy for me to take the latter route. But i haven't gone deaf yet!

Hi All,
I haven't received this email at all naturally. But i mean if i was shill bidding, do you think i would have been caught earlier? I mean i have been selling boxes since early 2006 and now its September 2006. I put my auctions private so other sellers don't annoy my bidders. Thats the only reason. Im not that smart to have two credit cards in two different names.
And with prices, i mean whats the deal with not listing it at the cheapest price possible? So i guess what you are saying is that we can only list at prices that noone would buy at?
I mean all this is a mute point until i get my credit card in order. But you know, you don't have to believe me, believe what you want. For every person who wants to slander me, there will be 10 to back me up. You don't get 99.9% feedback from over 700 transactions in 3 years on sheer luck.

Well you have me as one of those 700 positives mate......no problems here !

Hmm I could get a spanking for saying this, but I'm being honest.

I would NEVER buy from an Ebayer that had their Rating set to private. I like to read why people get negtives, in case it's something of interest in my consideration of purchase from the person.

Hiding your feedback, IMHO, is just proof you have something to hide about your dealings with people. If you have 100% feedback. Why hide it? I'm proud of mine!

So, hence why I will never, EVER buy from you Westriot. Sorry, but I'm just being honest. Pity some people can't be with their feedback.

I can understand (kind of), hiding the Bidder ID, but then again, it opens up the whole shill bidding issue.

So in other words, I'm against ANY information being hidden thats is needed by potential buyers.

Just so you all know, eBay now has a new policy on "Private Feedback", and that is you can no longer SELL if you have your feedback set to private !!!

I think that was a GREAT move by eBay =D>
