Select does it again. STRIKE ERROR CARD.

Tony
sent for approval to whom?

Also what about the Dragons Logo card with incorrect stats? Why not put both teams stat on the card ie StGeorge 15, Illawarra 0, StGeorgeIllawarra 1....

Blade, you are correct. I have checked out how this has happened and the file name for the image was incorrectly named by the league photographers that we use. From there we have dowloaded it and kept it as Ben Ta'o because it was a good image (although the wrong player) which is hard to get early in the season when we are putting the 2nd series together. Once cards have been finalised they are all sent for approval (id & stats/copy).

Laser proofs of the cards are sent to the licensing department of the NRL for final approval.

I can't help on the St George stats, don't know whether we were told to do that or not.
The way it works is we have the copy written then send in for approval, they make what ever changes they want and then we amend these changes and resubmit for final approval.

Thanks for clearing that up but do we get replacements? As im collecting a signed base set and lost of how about to go with who i should approach to sign it

Now, speaking of error cards............I pulled a Gareth Widdop Top Prospect (TP7) from a pack last night and it was numbered 'Player of 300'. Now that is an error card to have in a pack, I mean I can't even send it back to Select for replacement because there is no number on it to stamp on another card to send to me, I will get a scan up as soon as I hook my new MF Printer up.

So Tony (may I call you Tony), what would be your advice on this type of error card?

Dave P

Here are the scans

Here's another Tak

The NRL doesn't get any of its stats right.

When Hindy played his 300th 2 weeks ago he was supposed to be the SEVENTH player to play 300 games for ONE club.
Behind (In no order):
ET Cronulla
El Masri Bulldogs
Ricketson Roosters
Croker Canberra
Lockyer Brisbane

He should have been SIXTH as I can only assume they included Steve Menzies as Manly / Northern Eagles as one club.

Interestingly on the Footy Show, Ray Warren mentioned the list of five AND Cliff Lyons (but he played Norths & Manly).

Then they cut to that Jockey Robbo and he said 'only five players have done it before'.

So...hmmm...yeah.

For mine:
Saint George-Illawarra is 1999
Wests Tigers is 2000
and as mentioned, split the 2 previous identities on the back of the card.

Hi Tak,
When we get players to sign NRL Top Prospect & AFL Draft Pick Sigs we give them a few cards as memento for themselves to keep or to share with the family. These cards are kept seperate from the balance of the signature cards that we him to sign. These cards use to be unnumbered however with a few surfacing on Ebay we chose to have them foiled with the word 'Player' this way if they appeared we would know where they have come from. However it looks like he has mixed them up with the ones we needed back and have been collated into the sets. Generally when the cards are collated into sets they are looking at the front of the cards so you don't notice the backs. Obviously for future work we will need to check the backs as well so this doesn't happen.
Certainly if you would like to send the card to the office we are happy to exchange.
Regards
Tony

Can I ask how it would be exchanged? Does Select keep some cases and open them themselves or do you keep some of the signed cards and if so wouldn't that mess up the stated odds?

We both open a few cases as well as the players signing an extra few cards for any damage or scratches that are caused in the packing process

The extra cards are un-numbered so we can renumber these cards using the damaged card number

I realise that would be the case, stamp the un-numbered card with the same number as the damaged card being returned, in this case, the only way to exchange a TP numbered 'PLAYER' would be if you have numbered cards spare, I certinally would not like to think that Select would just stamp any number on the card and we find there are say two number 300's out there.......now that would be something.

Had the same thought. Perhaps you could get it stamped zero!

Tak,
You wouldn't even think about doing it. Apart from being unethical you would be caught out in no time. collectors would lose faith in the sets then you would lose sales.

Tony I totally agree, a companies integrity is of paramount importance. I suppose that without confirmation that I would receive a Widdop TP in return, I might just keep the one numbered 'Player' in the album for the fun factor that it gives...... :)

I had to beg Ben Teó to sign this card. He won't sign them because its not him on the card. I gave both Alex Glenn and Ben Teó an explanation as to how it happened according to Tony Duclos (post number 19 of this thread).

THIS ONE IS A RARITY, BOTH GUYS HAVE NEVER SIGNED THIS ON TOGETHER
