Just reading GiRDS thread re NRL/Penrith
http://www.ozcardtrader.com.au/foru...01103-panthers-vs-bulldogs-spoiler-alert.html

Question is when is a spolier required, how long after a match, the Penrith match was live on TV had finished(9pm?) about 2 hours after when the thread was put up(11ish),the results are available on all forms of media, surely if someone wants to watch it the next day people don't need to put up spoilers..
Now i undesrtand the Formula1 and NBA games are played in our different hours and then shown shortly after at a more decent time, thats fine can understand that, but a game that is basically done and dusted should not have a spoiler....

Honestly, You can post a thread about a game as soon as it starts even before, as long as you dont give away details of the result in the thread title its fine.

As for the link provided, I was out last night got home at midnight. I logged on here to check something here (a reported post) and the first thread I saw was a thread with a title that gave away the result.

I understand your point but you also have to take into account people in different time zones. A lot of games are delayed into other parts of Australia and while the game may have finished, its yet to be shown in other states.

While I know it can be a hassle remembering to put "Spoiler Alert" in the title, its also a bit of common courtesy to those who have yet to see the game.

Cheers
Matt

For the sake of putting one word in the title of a thread, I don't think it can hurt. I'll be watching AFL North v St Kilda at about 2:30pm on Fox, but avoiding the score in the Collingwood v Hawthorn game which I'll watch the delayed telecast at 6:30pm on Fox. Also keeping in mind I'll be watching at 6:30pm WA time, which is what at the moment 8:30, 9:30 eastern? I'll avoid anything that'll give the score away on the internet, (sports/news sites, twitter), but can (most of the time) happily still browse OZCT without worrying about having the game spoiled...

i agree with you i shouldve put spoiler but . The title was Penrith rebel if anything it gives the opposite idea of the result that actually happened

Thats cool. The only Issue I had is when I clicked on the vague "Penrith rebel" heading the first line was "After the win tonight they sung the game winning song on the field, havent seen that in 10 years."

You could have been posting about the rebel sports shop at Penrith? Who knows. I dont want to sound like im giving you a hard time over this, Its just that we need to remind people that its ok to talk about games and their results, you just need to be conscious that you include a spoiler alert in the thread heading so people who dont want to know the score can avoid the thread.

Cheers

It also comes down to making sure you don't spoil it for yourself. The general rules I stick to are:

1) Never post a result/score in a title.
2) Always put *spoiler* in the title if you are making a post within 48 hours after a game.
3) Never open a thread related to something I am going to watch later.

That way you are not going to spoil something for someone and you are also protecting yourself from finding out info you don't want to know yet.
