MATTHEW Elliott's NRL coaching career will be resurrected at Bondi next season with the sacked Penrith mentor accepting an assistant role with the Sydney Roosters.
Elliott, told last month his contract at the Panthers would not be renewed beyond this season before being shown the door for good last week, will work under Brian Smith at the Roosters.
He signed a two-year deal starting in 2012.
"He is an experienced coach with a terrific understanding of rugby league who already has a close association with our head coach, Brian Smith,'' said Roosters chief executive Steve Noyce.
Smith and Elliott have a long-term association, which first began when Elliott played under Smith at St George in the early 1990s.
