This is the team picked for the 2nd game, finding R.Stuart selection's a bit strange considering what he had said about Idris & Hayne, saying stuff like we need to pick players in their positions i.e Jenning left centre over Idris, Hayne is a fullback but Dugan been playing better therefore no position for him, now we have Hayne on the wing, Hopoate as a centre, Gallen as a prop and only 1 Prop on the bench, very strange indeed..
1. Josh Dugan (Canberra)

2. Jarryd Hayne (Parramatta)

3. William Hopoate (Manly)

4. Mark Gasnier (St George Illawarra)

5. Akuila Uate (Newcastle Knights)

6. Jamie Soward (St George Illawarra)

7. Mitchell Pearce (Sydney Roosters)

8. Paul Gallen (c) (Cronulla)

9. Michael Ennis (Canterbury-Bankstown)

10. Tim Mannah (Parramatta)

11. Beau Scott (St George Illawarra)

12. Ben Creagh (St George Illawarra)

13. Greg Bird (Gold Coast Titans)

Bench: Trent Merrin (St George Illawarra), Kurt Gidley (Newcastle Knights), Anthony Watmough (Manly), Luke Lewis (Penrith).

to many ball playing second rowers and not enough in the middle with the forward. Scott, civoncivia and co. will have more of a field day then game 1. Dont mind Hoppa being named apart from the fact he has stated he is leaving for 2 years and Ricky has always said he was building for the future (doesn't really make sense)

I wonder if Dugan is ruled out if they would move hayne back to num,ber 1, hoppa to the wing and bring in another centre (idris) or bring in Gidley to fullbak and bring in a another forward to the bench

not enough big men as sharkiefan said..

idris was snubbed, so was josh morris (if they are going to put in hoppa whos going to play god for 2 years)
dugan will get ruled out and hayne will play fullback and idris will come into the centres, with hoppa on the wing.
gids should stay on the bench as the utility player..

but yeah, the alarming thing is that there in no size in the team.. plenty of players that run on the edges and can get offloads, but no down and dirty origin players..

Where the f*** are my Bulldogs?! :(

umm just chillin after their 38-4 loss

yeah i think we need a heap of them in the team.

idris has the potential to be good yet he isnt im afraid. that is why you will see gidley at fullback and dean young or someone similar come into the side.

Yeh that was a bad loss. But still don't understand why Gidley's in the team. He's not even that good...

haha i think he needs to be there.

skip to 5:30 of this too see why

To be honest, Gidley was somewhat brave to bring it back, but what other options did he have other than an intentional forward pass or running the ball out of play, as there was no Blues player behind him I could see? QLD didn't put that kick up with ANY intention of scoring, they would've just waited until someone in a Blues jumper had the ball in their hand and ran it back. But what ELSE this video showed me, is why Creagh DOESN'T belong in Origin, and why someone like Brett White DOES! If Creagh had've backed up any further after basicly slapping Hodges, he would've been in the stands, where the QLD fans probably would've had their way with him TOO!

They are just going to run at Hoppa all night. He is gonna get killed.

Like Gidley and Watmough off the bench.

I like the setup above with Gidley as an impact player off the bench. Someone mentioned Josh Morris for centres??? I'm a Dogs fan and would put at least another 3 centres in front of him ATM

This is probably the worst NSW team ever to grace the field. Ricky Stuart should hang his head in shame for a pathetic selection outcome. I hope his head explodes during the game so he cant be as embarassed as i have been for the blues efforts for the past 5 years and now the 6th is a certainty. He really has to be kidding about this team.

Yeh how the hell did Anthony Minichello get into the team?! Where's Idris? Soft forwards apart from Gallen :(

like i said mate he has potential, but has he shown it? one good game a year isnt enough im afraid.

the team with an inclusion of a fit mick gordon would win for sure. too bad he did his ACL.

Then how did he make the Australian team?

Also how can you expect players to play properly if they don't even play together half the time? How are they going to develop team chemistry and the such? I don't think Anthony Minichello will ever be used again and Hopoate will be on a Mormon mission for 2 years. Why would you pick them if they're not going to contribute to the team in the foreseeable future? Stupid stupid Ricky Stuart. He's shown in the past few years that he can't coach or manage a team properly anymore!

I wonder if he was chosing a fullback to replace dugan and not switch hayne, i would have then preffered stewart over mini or blood some younger to give the experience - gardiner, stanley etc especially seeing he has chose hoppa

If you going to start mini you might as well just put Gids at fullback. At least he will run straight and not sideways.

Personally, I would have either moved Hayne to Fullback, Hopoate to the wing and had Idris in the centre. Idris could play a back up forwards role to ease the pressure on the smallish pack we have.

The other alternative would be to bring in Brett Stewart to fullback and swap Hayne to the centres and Hopoate to the wing.

I do Like Mini, but he has had his time and would prefer one of the 2 options I have mentioned above.

Cheers
Matt
