I doubt its the end but by no means is it good.

Seems a funny time for the SANFL to come out with this. From people in the know it seems to be more about the SANFL wanting more money, especially inlight of the new TV deal, then anything else.

As already, not including the Powers hand outs and debt reduction, they are 2million up on last year.

It goes to show the SANFL isnt serious about helping either of the SA clubs. As there is no way the Crows should record a loss with there members and game attendance.

In SA there has always been a huge discussion about Port in the AFL and the owners of its licence the SANFL. The SANFL claim to have propped up Port and the Crows for years when the 2 AFL teams have put huge money into the SANFL. Also questioning the stadium deals both teams have. It is good that this is coming to a head, maybe the 2 parties can sort their issues out, and get back to whats important, keeping 2 strong South Aussie teams ( especially Port) for years to come

if Port dies then there night be an opening for a Tassie team, sorry guys but i hope Port fold so we get a chance of having a team here in Tassie! dont like to see teams struggle though!

football in tassie is another arguement, in fairness you guys should have got a team before Gold Coast and GWS, ask most AFL followers except Andrew Demetriou and his henchmen who must see more $$$$ in Gold Coast & GWS than Tassie. Port will survive this, Football works in cycles, in 10 years people will be calling for another struggling side to fold. Look at North Melb, Western Bulldogs, who unless I am mistaken are battling for $$$. Richmond and Melbourne are just getting out of a slump. Even Hawthorn looked at almagamating/moving in the 90s didnt they!!!

Port is up against the wall for sure, but in a few years there will be someone else in the firing line......

If only the AFL came out and took the licence away from the SANFL and handed it directly to the Power.....

^^ Not really when you look at the Crows decent member numbers, decent crowd numbers, decent amount of sponsers. Cant turn a profit.

Someone should turn the light on the SANFL and find out how the hell they can be in 27million dollars of debt!

In reality, it was all done wrong in the first place.

The Maggies should have merged into the Power and been one entity right from the start, it would have eliminated the bye in the sanfl, & eased the pressure on the Powers finances. And there would have been no identity crisis which to this day still gives your clubs marketing staff nightmares & hurts your crowds. The way it was done originally, it not only cost you plenty of 'outside' supporters who were sick of trying to get tickets to a Crows match, but also peeved off the 'dye in wool' Port supporters who to this day still hate the Power because of what they have done to their beloved Magpies.

In both Port & the Crows cases in recent years, they are both playing disgraceful football which hurts the crowd, as well as both teams losing their 'South Australian' flavor onfield with the draft. The whole state has lost that 'us vs the Vics' feeling, no one cares anymore.
