I just thought i would vent something that has happened that i thought i could get past but it's really annoying the crap out of me. I sold a box of 96-97 Skybox Z Force Series 2 hobby to a guy in Canada on ebay. He paid via paypal so i left positive feedback straight away and sent the box via registered post.

Then he receives the box a week later and sends me this email:

Dear westriot,

Hi,

I understand in your auction that you stated boxes were untouched but I recieved an item that clearly displayed otherwise....it had been wrapped in 3 envelopes and which I dont mind but when a I took out the box there was a plastic cover seal that had been placed on the box with some tears and packages were ripped but cards were there. It definitley looks as if it had been munipulated and I just want to voice my displeasure on this.

I was shocked by this as i sold him the box under the assumption that it was not tampered with, so i sent him an email to explain my side of the story and for him to provide proof. BTW i don't search boxes or packs or onsell such products. I don't dropship either. I am a collector and got into selling after buying searched product so i know how it feels. But having said this, i wouldn't mind a chance to investigate the claims he has made. The following outlines my email i sent to him.

Dear saturdaycouchpotato,

Hello,

I only sell unopened and unsearched boxes. I would not risk my feedback to sell searched product. I checked the box prior to listing it on ebay otherwise i would have more troubles down the track than what it is worth. If you can list the exact problems with the product then i can forward this to my supplier and then we can get to the bottom of this. Thanks again.

Gary

Then he writes an email back blowing his top off as he wanted me to give him an excuse or refund off the bat:

Dear westriot,

WELL IF THE BOX WASNT TAMPERED WITH IT CERTAINLY SEEMED TAMPERED WHEN IT ARRIVED. As far as your dealer is concerned I think you would have clearly noticed what I saw and wouldnt have sold me this product if it was coming rom you via your dealer. Unless of course its your dealer who shipped these cards to me.

I am sorry to have to leave you negative feedback. I am very upset at this whole thing. An clearly you didnt offer any solution other than me offering feedback to your dealer...this really doesnt do anything for me. I paid a substancial amount for an item that was tampered with.

And he has also left great feedback as well:

Tampered item. Dealer offered no excuse, no refund. Will take it up with Paypal Buyer:

Emailed buyer to explain situation. Thank you for defaming me and my feedback.

96-97 FLEER SKYBOX Z-FORCE SERIES 2 NBA HOBBY BOX KOBE (#300554335070) AU $184.95 View Item

So now i am defamed on ebay, my feedback is worsened, and i will probably lose a paypal claim because i can't prove i didn't tamper the product. A load of crap really and twerps like this make ebay a ****tier place. I will still leave positive feedback in the future for other people as soon as i receive payment and not be dodgy and leave feedback after i have received feedback. I would like to wring this guy's neck and put his 90 pound weakling body on a stake but i guess i would be called an animal for doing so. End rant.

That sucks big time Gary. There certainly some asses out there. What about photos of the box before you sent it to him? Do they help your case?

Well i used a stock photo so that doesn't help my case. I only scan the box for picture purposes if i cannot find a picture of the box online. Oh well, you win some and lose some hey? I won't tar the whole country of Canada with the one brush from one bad experience!

Tough ...very tough. Just out of curiosity. Is there much international buyers for your boxes. For some reason, it does not make sense for someone to buy boxes all the way from Canada? Especially for high postage reasons!!! Is it worthwhile just limiting selling your boxes to just within Australia? A thought to ponder.

Tough luck Gary. Im sure anyone from here that has dealt with you in the past will ignore any negative feedback from a guy across the other side of the world. just sounds like a bitter person expecting to pull a massive hit from a box and didnt and is out for some kind of revenge (like it was your fault)

Or maybe he read on here about your MJ guarntee ;)

I don't see why you would have to prove it wasn't tampered with? Is that part of the paypal claim? If you sent it registered you should be covered.

I know how you feel though, I got a neg from a buyer the other day which wasn't warranted, I think he was just using a loophole to get a refund (it was a t-shirt though) but maybe this guy got a sh1t box and just wanted the money back? Unfair, but as soon as some people figure out loopholes in the system it seems they do their best to exploit.

I think you got screwed here. The box is 15 years old, probably been through the post a few times - of course its going to be banged around a bit. Geez

I got some negative feedback the other week. When i sent the guy a message asking what his problem was he told me he is bi-polar and was having a bad night.

You should not have to give a refund. If he has recived it and not happy with it. He should have to send the item back to get a refund. He cant just keep an item and plus get his money back.(He has already said that he recived the item so he cant claim item not recived) If he has open the packs he has accepted the item. Buy that you cant resell the itemyour self. So that void a refund. Because you have to beable to resell it. Like any retail shop. If paypal ask you to give refund ask them about retail refund policys in australia i think ebay would have to follow aswell and check ebays policys and see what that say.

Hope i have made sence if you have any questions please PM me.

Sorry to read about this Gary :(

There is something to take out of this though: Use your own pics of the actual box you are selling.

This will mean you have to check the condition and will 100% know the condition as you'll have a photo as proof.

If this Canadian fool thinks you are a crook Westy, maybe I should let him know I have pulled a Carmelo logoman form your boxes, or a Bird/Parish dual auto from your boxes, or a Crittendon RC 1/1 from your boxes, or an MJ Signs Of Stardom auto from your boxes................................

He sounds like a little **** anyhow so **** him. He can keep the cards and lodge a paypal claim for all i care. Total turd that loves to get donkey punched in the morning.

and the thing id i would have accepted it if he wanted to return it prior to unwrapping. don't you check the box before you unwrap it? but yeh just sour apples really, not getting the hits he wanted.

offer him a refund if he returns that will cover the payal claim, likely answer is he has already opened it and by opening it he has accepted in the condition he is complaining about
