2011 Select Strike.

Really Dave i was not aware that the NRL make the decision, probably about the only decision they make, still waiting for IC to be formed....

Yep I am 99.9% sure that is correct, Select can put up a preferred list of players but NRL make the D.

Card looks good girds.

I dont see what the big deal is really. Who cares, its 1 card. Builds anticipation/hype. No such thing as bad publicity etc etc. Its got some people frothing at series 2 already. Well done for posting girds.

Yes Girds, well done, if anyone is looking for the image I have it posted on my wall on facebook............:)

What do you think these will sell for once they come out???

Good question, here is a scenario that, in my opinion, justifies why the 2011 Champions auto's are WAY overpriced. OK, so here we go, most top prospects in years past sell for what 40 - 60 dollars and that's being generous for most of the auto's, there will be exceptions for an Inglis, Slater, Smith etc and the like, now in the 2011 Strike they are numbered to 300, we know this thanks to Girds and I think it worked out to 400 cases (more than 2009 Classic).

So if this years TP's that are numbered to 300 like most previous years and as per previous years sell for 40 - 60 dollars a pop why in the hell are we paying 80 - 120 dollars for an auto numbered to 600 and a crap load more cases, can someone explain the logic in that to me?

Quality of players. Top Prospects are gambles (Milton Thaiday top prospect, anyone?) where-as the players in series one, even if not all superstars, are very solid first graders, and popular players with their club's fans. You definitely won't look back on these cards in your collection and struggle to remember who the player even is!

The 2011 Champions signatures are way over priced and i said as much in my price guide. Unfortunately its down to demand as somehow people think they are going to "miss out" (which is crazy). I think the 2011 signature series (overall) is pretty poor - there are some good players but none are out and out superstars.

I agree with Tak completely. Would you rather have paid for this

2011 NRL Champions STAR SIGNATURE Chris Heighington SS8 (eBay item 150596680145 end time 05-May-11 19:15:48 AEST) : Sport

or this

nrl cards-2001 future force St George (eBay item 320696296675 end time 15-May-11 20:52:42 AEST) : Sport

I know which one will be worth the most long term.

The 2001 card is numbered to 675, the 2011 card is to 600 ... Heighington is a very good player and would be popular with his club's supporters. Neither will go down as greats of the game to be honest. And the 2001 card still sold for more?

I don't get your problem ... the 2011 series is also a new release which means people are paying overs to try and complete their set.

Another factor is there is only 8 cards in the set, meaning 4800 sig cards in total, the 2001 set had 16 cards - 10,800 cards. At a set level, these are scarcer.

It's nothing I wouldn't expect, to be honest. They may be overpriced, but that is life!

I agree with what you saying but your only making the case as to why these are way over priced and people should sit on the sideline.

Here's Billy Slater for $110. Only 590 in that FF series and someone paid more than that for Chris Heighington. CRAZY!!!!

Just think back to last years Diamond Phenomenon cards. They were selling for $80+ when they first come out. I saw a Lockyer sell for less than $40 a couple weeks ago.

These 2011 Champions signatures will be selling for $50 to $60 within 6-12 months. I guarantee it.

i have to gordons one for 80 of redtorana first week of release and one for 47.00 thanks to ebay

so i see what you mean owen.

That's card collectiong though, the prices of cards vary over time - some go up, some go down.
