2011 Select Strike.

Thats Selects problem, if they want to give the players 10cards to give out, then what do they expect, might even see them pop up on eBay....

Well I think Sandor is going to find himself in the poo over this, there is no way Select would like images or information to be out this early about the series 2 product.

Look at the build up and talk about the series already with just one card, it almost seems ridiculous select arn't releaseing more info themselves!

id appreciate if you kept it to yourself. i thought i should let some fellow collectors know about the designs turns out i was probably wrong i should of just pm'ed a few i wanted to see it.

why should select have to know? im trying to help this site by providing the most serious collectors such as yourself as to what we can expect to see in this set, since select has failed to deliver in the past, id hope no one was going to run off an email select on their thoughts.

this is merely just something different to look forward to and can we leave it at that.

Like any big business the Company will want to control the release of informtion about an up and coming product. I would image that these cards given to the players would come with some sort of caveat that they can't be given until a particular time and/or date.

For Girds - asking that we keep it to ourselves is naive, once its on the net its viral, Select would know of this before the close of business today............Anyone of the authorised resellers of Select products on this site or visiting this site would be well within their rights to contact JHL or Select to advise them this information is out on the net. I believe that Select staff visit this and other sites as guests to look at what is happening with their customers, that only makes good business sense to monitor your customers opinions.

Dave

The one benefit is that it just may make Select release something now for the collectors.

Im pretty sure 3-6 years ago, Select had given the players a set of Auto cards and quite a few ended up on eBay, they were given in a frame, i was actually offered a players set, but they wanted too much for them...

If Select is going to pay players in cards for doing something that they are going to make a stack of money on then the players have the right to do with them what they choose. No one in the NRL is going to take any notice of a dinky little company like Select.

thats a fair enough response i suppose, i agree with you come to think of it. anyhow its not like its going to harm their release or anything i only want the rest of the cards more now i have seen this?

hopefully nothing comes of it for me, my uncle and sandors sake.

Dont worry Girds - cant see Panthers handing him a weeks suspension for giving away a football card that made it into your hands. Well done for getting your hands on it.

I understood the players were paid for this, but may be wrong.

As for the signature cards, Select makes no more money from them than a regular card. The price inflation happens when people pull a card and sell it.

But anyway, if Select gives the player the cards and asks them to agree to certain conditions, then the player does not have the right to do what they want with the card. Who knows if they do or not - definitely not me.

I personally would doubt if Select do visit forums, because their product usually doesn't correspond to what people on here want, but I am sure they will find out very soon from someone who has seen it. I don't imagine they'd be too happy.

As for the card ... I don't really like the look too much. Using up most of the card for the sig seems to be Select's style at the moment, but I prefer a bigger photo of the player. Excited to at least have confirmation that there will be a series two, though!!! :D

they are paid, im not disclosing how much.

i heard a rumour a while ago that someone on here is a big time player within select.

as for conditions i dont know about them.

Yeah I was sure they got paid.

If there are conditions then maybe Select need to make them clearer. Because I'm sure they wouldn't want the cards out early, but what else do they expect the players to do with them, other than give them to fans? Not sure if this is the first time they've done this other than the 2004 Captain Sigs thing, but it's the first time I've ever seen player cards.

Hmm, Maybe Copley himself is a user on here! haha.

they used to be numbered to 0 mate this is the first time they have said player.

in the pas i have recieved a shane rodney future force from 2003, craig gower capt sig 2004

I respectfully disagree James. Any company out there wants to build hype for a new product, especially when its not costing them $$$ to do it. Have a look at all the new media marketing that goes on with Twitter and Facebook these days.

Perhaps Girds is the Select deep throat drip feeding out information on the new series. haha - just kidding Girds!

Ahhhhh yes "Deep Throat" now there was a class A movie

I reckon this has worked out well for Select, given the lack of a Series 2 last year had led to so much ill will.

Just look at the activity, 4 pages of largely positive discussion about Series 2 that wouldn't have existed without Girds' pic.

Select has their own marketing programme, with series one they released information bit by bit on their facebook a few weeks before the release in order to build suspence and anticipation.

Not to mention that this far in advance, information like this is still confidential. If random cards coming out was what they wanted, they would do it themselves. If they wanted to release information, they would release a checklist tomorrow.

Whether it's a good thing or not is speculation - I think it will have little or no impact either way, but it certainly doesn't fit in with Select's previous marketing campaigns and how they release their info.

Poor Select, its the nature of the beast, we are information hungry, if Select don't want the info to be leaked early, don't give out any cards to the players until the week of their release, can't have it both ways, if anything the hype has increased the exposure to the product and if this doesn't do well, next year you will only get 1 series and guess what it will be another Champions series....
