I was checking cards mid 90's re another thread to see how many sig red there were in each year. I have 5 unredeemed National Heroes exchange cards and noticed something that raised an eyebrow.

scan0003-8.jpg

The card on the left has Dynamics logo in blue in the bottom right of card and red numbering. The rest have the logo in black with gold numbering. Also what are the chances with those 4 cards (all bought from the same place) having a Langer and a Renouf numbered 999, then 2 x Mullins 670 and 672?????
Layout of the wording of the 4 is different as is the date from which cards will be mailed???

On closer inspection, folders/cards etc from Dynamic all have the blue logo so I suspect the others are fakes. If anyone has these, LMK what yours are like

I'm not sure why someone would go to the trouble of forging an unredeemed exchanged card, surely the value is in the actual redeemed signed card, but yes you would expect them to be the same?

Unfortunatley some legitimate collectors are having their redeemed cards devalued because of all the dodgy Dynamic dealings.

I'll be interested to see other members exchange cards.

Well let me throw this spanner into the works for you all, I have two National Heroes exchange cards that I personally pulled from sealed boxes I open years ago. The players are Langer and Johns. The Langer exchange card was the Dynamic logo in black, numbered 119 in gold and the Johns has the Dynamic logo in blue (and larger) and is numbered 0573 in red.

I also have the Brett Mullins redeemed 3 card set (all filled out etc) and the COA and Redemption card are both black Dynamic logo's.

Will post scans if you want them.

Crazy !!!!! No wonder they went bust.....

Thank God there are no STG National hereoes in this release.

What's your opinions on the legitamacy of this one:

1994 Dynamic NSWRL SIGNATURE GOLD CARD-MARK COYNE G4 (eBay item 140540755858 end time 03-May-11 21:08:26 AEST) : Sport

NB: I am certainly not questioning the sellers integrity but most of these I have seen the Gold is often overlayed part of the signature.

Thanks for that Dave, perhaps I had MASSIVE coincidences in the 4 cards I got with #'s etc. The only way I can sort of explain the differences is perhaps there were a couple of print runs

Yeah Ross, that's a hard one. The seller I couldn't question at all as he is very reputable IMO but the overlaying of the gold on part of the sig is what made it genuine. You'd always be questioning it

Yeah i know this seller and he would not be selling anything knowingly dodgy.

It would be great to track down someone that worked at Dynamic and get to the bottom once and for all about the Signature cards. Personally i have held back buying these cards due to these issues. The only one i have bought for my own collection are the Force 5 and Playmakers because you at least get the redemption card, COA and the signature card all with the same number.

Owen,

the National Heroes and all fired up signature cards all come with the 3 card set and are all numbered.

I'd say that the Coyne is authentic, I've seen his gold cards before like that, he's the only one that didn't go onto the gold part (which then got covered up with foil).

There's number 287. Almost identical looking. I think if you get it from a reputable seller then you're safe. You're pretty much safe with all the rest of Dynamic's signatures, as long as you get the Dynamic certificates and redemptions with the card.

By the way, my Johns national hero has the redemption number in red and the Dynamic logo in blue.

Who is the red #0893 card of? If it is an ARL team then I'd say the 96 Series 1 Starter (ARL) set is in red and blue and the 96 Series 2 Booster set (Super League teams) is in black and gold.

It would explain why there were two printing runs, the Booster set came out a month or two after the Starter set.

It's of Steve Menzies - ARL. Wasn't it late 96 that the division became apparent, after the release of both series?

The Super League deals were signed in 1995 and it was looking like Super League clubs would sit out 1996 and wait for 1997. All the Super League clubs forfeited Round 1 in 1996, before deciding to participate in the 1996 ARL:
Canberra forfeited to South Queensland
Brisbane forfeited to Auckland
Penrith forfeited to Parramatta
Cronulla forfeited to Newcastle
Western Reds forfeited to St George
Canterbury v North Queensland cancelled
Rugby League Tables / Season 1996

Given the uncertainty of Super League teams participation the Dynamic Series 1 1996 was split into ARL (Starter) and Super League (Booster).

What's the Johns worth and are there three cards for a complete set? Are these redemption card, auto card and letter from Dynamic? Dynamic really liked to make things hard lol.

Dave could you please scan up those Mullin cards so we can see the 3 and maybe give me a peek at the Johns NH set as well please? :)

Interesting. Perhaps another explantion for this anomaly

My Menzies that I pulled from a pack is numbered 0129 in red with a blue logo.

That could be right. I have noticed the common cards and other inserts have a slightly different back too. The Booster set has 'ARL Winfield Cup player card' written under the stats but the Starter set has nothing there.

Edabomb is a 90s expert =D>
Oh and lucky we forfeited to Newcastle coz we wouldve smashed them!

Just a lucky catch, but I'll take the expert status ;) haha. I do remember back in school when the 1996 set came out with no Canberra players, shocking stuff!

I checked my redeemed Mullins and it has the gold/black combo consistent with Booster set National Heroes.

They all range from around 80-200.. Depending on the collector and how badly they want the card!!.. :)

apologies to all, I missed the request for the scans, the mullins card is in my PC, the two single cards I pulled from packets out of sealed boxes I bought a few years ago.
