Celtics v Heat 2011 Playoffs Second Round Thread **SPOILERS INSIDE**

Either way this will be a 6 or 7 game series.... Celtics are a lot older then the Heat and this WILL play a part at some stage in the series, just when and how much who knows! With Lebron, Wade and Bosh... Espically the first 2, they WILL make this series a contest no matter what! There is no way in the world Lebron and Wade let the Heat fall over in a heap and get beating easily, it just won't happen and yes Lebron and Wade are good enough to force the point on their own! As much as I hate to say it, Rondo will be a massive factor in this series! Bibby and Chamlers just aren't good enough to guard him!

Why is there so much put on the benches?? I don't think Boston has that good of a second unit, other then size wise against the Heat anyway! Jeff Green has done SFA since becoming a Celtic, Kristic is 2nd rate at best, Shaq... Well as much as I love the Big Diesel th Dude is pushing 40 at 300 pounds! Theres only so much his legs/body can take, espically out on the Hardwood!

This is going to be an intriguing series no matter which way it goes! Both teams have their different flaws and both teams will be able to exploit those flaws in different ways!!! Rondo is a X factor and Bosh could be a surprise X factor!

It's still allabout the Bulls baby!! :p

(Wade) is an interesting case and I think he gets by because he is so appealing when he speaks to media. He looks guys in the eye, is reflective and cooperative for the most part, just coming off as a very decent man. But you do hear around the NBA how he has gone so called big time. He long has been a world class whiner and complainer, and you hope it doesn’t get him all those free throws. Let me say he is a terrific talent. But, I agree, he does some insulting things on the basketball court that suggest ego over reason. I think he’s just developed a bigger head with the TV commercials and the accompanying attention. He is certainly not the guy he was or the first to change along the way. But that is difficult to maintain for anyone in the NBA world. NBA.com

That quote is classic. Especially the part talking about doing things with "ego over reason" since that's all Garnett and Pierce do. Garnett's ego overtakes his reason all the time and we've seen it too many times to count over his whole career. Speaking of whingers there is no bigger whinger than Pierce, who even flops and leaves the court with "injuries" when he doesn't get his way  classic. Get that guy an Oscar!

This quote was about Wade, not KG and Pierce. U feeling a bit precious Jimbo?? ;)

I'm still curious about who wrote this stuff. It better not be some anonymous player. I noticed on espn insider they have a 'player x' bagging other players. Gutless journalism.

I know it was about Wade. I'm saying it's funny because the things he gets called out for in that quote are even worse with Garnett and Pierce. Understand? ;)

I don't think there's many superstars in this league who don't have an arrogant streak. They need it to keep believing they can beat each other. Wade's no different to any other star. He moans more than he used to - no doubt, but it's probably because his body is a bit less bulletproof so he can't take the hits like he used to. He also has a bit of Pierce in him in terms of showboating injuries, Kobe's done it recently too IMO. Some of them really love the drama!!

Agree with most of this. Green needs to play decent D and also put some pts up. Davis has the ability to score. I guess Boston has the edge off the bench cos they have more guys who can score. I don't know whether Shaq will play in this series no matter what the C's are saying.

Ego overtaking reason is something I rarely see happening from Pierce or Garnett. There doesn't need to be a competition between any of the starters. Not as evident in Miami.
And flopping is taking advantage of the rules, while I hate it, until they change it it will be a part of the game so get over that will ya, you and your wheelchair statements

Haha gotta love the wheelchair statements Matt ;)

I meant ego overtaking reason in terms of with the opposition though. E.G. KG will do stupid things, make dirty plays or whatever, because his ego is bigger than his common sense. And then fans like yourself will pass them off as "competitive", when really if a lesser player like Nate Robinson or JR Smith had done them (as they have), their reputation would be tarnished for their whole career.

I absolutely hated Glen Davis last year because he toasted the Heat. The Heat were small inside (Haslem, Beasley, JO) and he would just bulldoze his way to the rim with no resistance.

That won't happen this year because while the Heat aren't skilled inside, they have length and play defense straight up. Davis will have a harder time finishing against Z, Damp, Big Cat, Joel or whoever is on the floor as opposed to last year when he would finish or get fouled by a smaller player.

Jeff Green is straight up soft. Unfortunately it seems like he's one of those players who either excels as a starter, or flops as a reserve because he doesn't have the attributes to make a BIG impact over a short period of time (but rather can make a big impact over the course of the game but not in spurts).

Ah ok. Some are competitive, some are dirty, gotta admit that, but still, meh, I've pushed over/elbowed a few guys in close games out of frustration and trying to play the team enforcer/tough guy role so hey, if it helps the team win, I'll do it. Haven't flicked anyone in the nuts as yet though.
Also don't think ego and competitive will to win are one and the same.

Davis will still get to the rim this year you watch, and when he can't he'll step back out and nail the sweet jumper in someones mug.
And Jeff Green is improving, this series will be the test though for sure.
