QLD Flood Victims

just got an update on my aunties house water up to her chest have to leave the house now cant get anymore stuff out

omg never really thought it would ever be as bad as it has been

luckily i'm high and dry as well.

Glad to here everyone is safe. First thoughts were for Benny and Ev though thought you were still in rocky. :) and Al, Glad to here your out of harms way

been getting a good first hand view of it all with work and its unbelievable. One of our stores was evac'd when then water was at their door. an hour later it was just under ceiling height. spent the day getting machinery moved and then start getting it out to help with the setup and 2moro and after the cleanup

biggest shocks seeing is whats left of southbank, the water in suncorp stadium, and the dry dock at the bottom of southbank where the war time museum is and HMAS Diamantina which may not be to dry for much longer

do you think this is worse than the bush fires we had last summer?

cant really compare. Hopefully loss of life will be nowhere near but with 3/4 of the state flooded, on the damage side probably

Thanx Col,Glad your all OK aswell.I found out this morning that my other house with all our stuff still in it, is OK,Never quite made it to the floor boards.

The towns of lowood & fernvale near by, where a lot of my freinds live are just about wiped out,From what i was told,Fernvale has been destroyed just about. They are both the first towns just down from Wivenhoe dam spillway,on the brisbane river.

It was alot worse there than the /74 flood.
Hope everyone else is still OK.

good to hear

if you need a hand with cleaning/moving lmk and i might be able to help or get something to help

Awesome news Al!

When it came through Toowoomba I was stuck at work 3hours before water went down enough to try get home but major damage to roads took ages to get through. Our yard was flooded but house was safe. I took footage of damage It is beyond belief. I will try get some of the pics uploaded for you guys in coming days.

Good to hear from you Col and Al....has been a while since i have been around....but my thoughts were definitely with those that i knew were in the affected areas!!

Fingers crossed the water will receed quickly and the roads clear all over the state so we can get back to a reasonable amount of normalsy....as normal as can be expected anyway...

On a side note...it is not only Brisbane that will suffer from this....but the whole state. Most food and supplies come through/from Brisbane and will obviously not be getting through for some time. Our supermarkets are empty already and i heard even maccas ran out of food tonight. Builders cant get supplies through to repair the homes that were flood affected (up to 1.5m in some homes) and there are rumours the town will be out of fuel within days. With Emerald only just recovering from its own record flood, this would be another kick in the nuts for our community. Obviously issues like these are being felt all over QLD and pale in comparison to the lives lost in the SE corner of QLD....but the flow on effect of these floods will be felt for many weeks and even months to come....

GOOD LUCK EVERYONE!!!

Glad everyone is ok.

Will be starting to do claims at my work for people affected by this, if anyone has questions about assistance they cant get from Centrelink PM me.

Awesome news Al!

Thanx mate,Hope your good.

Been watching ABC News 24 since I got home from work. The scale of it all is breathtaking.

Best wishes, karmic vibes and some major mojo being sent your way. Have donated to the QLD government appeal already, and will put in a bit more when my current lot of eBay auctions finish on Saturday.

I know I'm at the wrong end of the east coast to come out and help, but if any OCT members need someone to help contact others, or do anything that can be done from Sydney, please don't hesitate to ask.

The very best of luck to you all. Stay safe.

I was in Queensland during the worst of the floods, although i was not affected.
My Dad was in Toowoomba but made a last minute decision to leave the night before the floods hit.

My heart goes out to everyone in QLD especially from OCT hope you are all ok and stay safe.
