Just want to say that I hope any OCT members affected by the disastrous floods in QLD are OK. I don't think we have many central/nth qld members here, but after what happened in Toowoomba yesterday (and I now we have some from there bigrob eg), I hope you are all safe and ok and your card collections are on higher grounds! For those that are close to the banks of the bremer and brisbane rivers than I hope the next 48 hours are safe for you too! Wivenhoe is holding back a lot of water that would have seen a 74 repeat otherwise, but they have to release a LOT of water and if more rainfall occurs I hope you are all safe too :)

Hard to imagine so much water. Thinking of those affected. Someone do a sun dance.

Hopefully no one is directly affected from here, I have a few friends up there helping out with rescue efforts as part of the Defence Force and it's shocking to say the least.

I've been checking out the videos on the Tube and this raw footage should sum up the intensity of these floods.

Just an update, the Brisbane river has broken its banks and starting to flood in some parts of the city. Redcliffe is going to flood any moment from now.

My god...Ev (nvd001) and I are in Emerald which you guys may have seen on the news. We and our homes were all ok but other werent so lucky with some houses having 1.5m through them.

Most of my family live in Toowoomba and it is just amazing what has happened there....

Good luck to all of you who are in Brisbane...fingers crossed all this slows down soon so the state can get back to a bit of normalsy....

I have never seen rain like this before, it literally hasn't stopped for days and days.
My heart goes out to all those in the flood ravaged areas of Queensland.
We on the Sunshine Coast are faring pretty well, although reports of areas starting to go under are coming in.

You know what the ironic part is.

Hobart has had a lot of what we think is heavy rain here. It is almost a pain in the ass compared to what we are use to.

Yet is is still NOTHING compared to QLD rains. I can only imaging how devastating these are.

I hope all our affected QLD members are safe too.

Just another update !!! The next 24 - 48 hours very critical for some suburbs in Brisbane. 700 properties has been identified as flood potential... with that number going up to 8000.

That footage is incredible. within 4 minutes it went from a very full fast flowing overflow ditch on the side of the road into what can only be described as a powerful display of just what mother nature can do. I hope nobody lost their life from that flood. :(

If there is one thing that has made me sit up and take notice is the issue of flood insurance. I got our Certificates of Insurance out this arvo and found tucked away in small print in one area are the words 'not covered' for flood insurance.................SHYTE..............rang out provider and found that if a wall of water came thru similar to what happened in Toowoomba then we would be covered BUT if flood water coming down stream met a high tide and the local river broke its banks and we were flooded then we would not be covered.

I asked the consultant to provide us with that coverage but I have to fill out an additional form, it has to be risk assessed and a decision made whether the company would cover that risk, we are with RACQ, anyone have better experiences or policies I can look at??

Dave

Insurance sucks...why can't they cover everything...there's only one meaning to floods and that's "OMGSH THERE'S SO MUCH F***ING WATER AROUND ME"...anyone who is able to come to this conclusion should automatically get covered...NO IFS...NO BUTS...

A flood is a flood, all this stuff should be covered.... Hope all is well in your neck of the woods....

Anyone heard from aussie2al? He lives right in the area where those massive floods came through. Hope he is ok.

Tracy & i are safe,Thanx mate.We got out just in time on sunday. Our house is right on the bank of the lockyer creek. This is the 3rd time in about 3 weeks it has been flooded in but this is the worst by far & still rising. It was at the foot of our house about 4 hours ago & the water has a long way to go before it peaks,There is a heap more coming behind it.The house looks like it is in the middle of a huge lake.
We are moving to tweed heads ( we are there at the moment thank god) but haven't had the chance to get all our belongings out in time.

The very near by town of lowood & fernvale are just down from Wivenhoe dam where it is meeting up with the water coming through our way from towoomba.Lowood & fernvale are flooded in & Most is under or going under. It's much worse than /74 & i should know,I was there then aswell.

I feel so bad for our freinds & all others who have lost every thing up there & the people who have lost there lives. My uncle & aunt live at Murphys creek at base of the towoomba range are missing,Still trying to contact them.

Got to go,The phones been ringing hot today.
