Who do you collect and why?

Great idea for a thread, for me well with my daughter we collect NRL cards from 1988 onwards (when the Broncos joined the comp). We also have all broncos players from 2000 onwards (team sets) autographed for framing. With my son we collect non-sport cards, only those sets that tickle our fancy such as smallville, stargate atlantis, warehouse 13, Dexter, Justice League and some star wars. We also do some cricket.

In AFL i collect Western Bulldogs cards -beacause they are my favourite team, Nic Naitanui because he is one of my favourite players and everything else AFL really.

NBA i collect:
Kyle Weaver because he is cheap to collect and has a good range of cards. Also liked him as a rookie and being apart of the first Thunder team appealed to me.
Bryant Reeves because i had a jersey of his when i was young so i bought a bulk lot of his cards and i add to the pc every now and then. Also liked the Vancouver Grizzlies.

On the side i collect Chris Paul but he's cards are a bit out of my price range so i just get a few bits and pieces. Sometimes i look for Hornets cards because they are my favourite team and i also like to pick up anything random that catches my eye.

hmm well i followed the rookie year of 07/08 pretty close through the college years, so thats where my main 2 came from acie and KD, i liked Acie from "The Shot" (u tube it if you dont know)
and i started to pull a lot of his cards so i though eh i will collect him, plus helps the hawks patch's and colours are some of the best.
KD i always thought should of been #1 pick nothing against oden he will show what he can do one day, but KD now is just the ultimate professional so thats why i collect him
I currently am sorta collecting on the side Horford (07 year as well) thabeet (not sure just think he might click) and johnny flynn (another not sure but he does have huge potential)
but i still like players and cards from the 07/08 Rookie year (noah conley green brewer davis etc etc)

Chris Douglas Roberts AKA CDR.. decided to nail my collection down to one player.

I wanna collect CDR because he is underated and i really dig his game, i like collecting players not many people are collecting/know about.. also am a Bucks fan.

Please PM me if you have any Chris Douglas Roberts your willing to part with... gonna try real hard to build a nice collection of his cards.

Sweet..

He had a nice game vs Spurs today!

Started played 40min, 21 Points, 3 boards, 2 assists, 2 steals and a Block for good measure.

2-3 from range, 8-15 from field.

Great Thread

When I first started playing basketball back in the 5th grade, I had 3 favourite players I started Collecting

MJ what more can be said, over the years my Jordan collection has grown mainly 90's inserts

Pippen cause of his all-round game and with MJ they use to tear it up night after night, he also proved his worth as a player in 94 after MJ first retired, that year he lead the bulls to the playoffs and took the All-Star MVP the rest is history or should i say hall of fame

Shaq cause of his dominance during his Rookie Year, think he pulled down 2 or 3 backboards that season, and also remember being one of the most unpopular kids at school for a week or so, during a pick up game in 6th grade at lunchtime, I jumped off the back of a team mate, dunked it and hung on the ring... it gave way, funny when I think about it now, stupid when I think about it back then, was the school's only BBall ring at the time, stopped collecting him when he joined the Lakers was a huge Orlando fan at the time, kinda like LBJ and the Cavs situation now, without "the decision" and the burning of jersey's etc

in 95 started collecting KG after he declared he was entering the draft, saw a vid of him play at High School and thought this guy's got game and balls, he had a game that was unconventional at the time for such a big man (tall and lanky actually), got most of his Rookie year stuff at the time when it was cheap and kept tabs on his play over the years, been great to watch him become the hall of famer he'll be once he retires.

Kobe after collecting KG for a year and hearing about his jump from high school to the nba and also hearing about him owning Stackhouse at the 76ers training camp, (my best mate at the time was a huge Stackhouse collector lol) so he was the last player of the 90's I collected before I stopped collecting for ages, he reignited my respect for Shaq as a player and out with Orlando as a fav team and in with the Lakers

Recently getting back into collecting I'm liking Rajon Rondo, his play reminds me alot of Penny Hardaway, also loving the Celtics/Lakers rivalry over the last few seasons, it's great to watch them play each other no matter who wins I'm happy as they are my two favourite teams presently, Lakers have probably been my fav team longer though

other then that there are a few side collections, Bird, Penny, Webber, Robinson, Barkley, Olajuwon all great players
