SELECT- The Ashes Series Boxed Collection

Wow, what a great new product this looks like! I reckon we cricket fans should get right behind it - if there is enough interest, maybe Goldie Marketing might be able to secure an ongoing licence with Cricket Australia to produce cards!

just exchanged an email with Anton from Goldie Marketing about getting some sent to me in the uk. much more friendly than the select emails about posting to the uk! looks like you can buy a box of 24 packets of the cards. not sure how many are in the packets though. would be curious to hear how easy they are to find over there guys

I live in GWS and I visited 7 Woolworths and found only one with stock...which I hasten to add, I bought out.

The case is 6 x 4 packs = 24 packs = $3.95 x 24 which is roughly $96.

As per the Goldies website, these are blister packs with 6 of 6 sets (which is 12 cards).
The cards are standard card size, a bit thicker with rounded corners (flashbacks to Scanlens 1988-1991).

I checked a number of neweys but they had no idea what I was talking about, so am hunting the other card packs.

I think if they have them, they will be point of sale stock so check the registers and end caps at front of store. The box is really big in the bluey grey colours CA have gone with for all the official Ashes 2010-11 merch.

Good luck hunting.

I also emailed Goldies so awaiting a reply, and will buy 2-3 boxes of cards direct from them if I can. Saves me petrol going to every Nextra or BP in Sydney.

The blister packs I got from Woolies are just the Test players at the moment - Bolly, Clarke, Ponting, Hussey, Watson, Katich, Haddin, Johnson, Broad, Strauss, Collingwood, Pietersen. The other 4 - Hauritz, Siddle, North and Hilfy must come in the packets - which include the 32 odd one day cards (which includes Hughes). If I get any packs and get a spare Hughes, I'll PM you. Might even try to go to Sheffield Shield and get one signed. So let me know if you'd want one too. Shouldn't be hard to get as no one is at SS these days anyway.

This idea from goldie is better than the select one.
The price select want for there Ashes set is ridiculous, maybe $100 but not $299. And it should have an auto or a card thats 1 in 4 sets or something.

I was hanging out for a new cricket release so it looks like the Goldie mini bat and cards seems the way to go

Mate that would be great!

From Anton at Goldies - such a champ already:

Woolies is stocking the blister packs, which are 6 x 2 (12 cards)
[Note: A box/case is 4 x 6 = 24 packs (pack 1 x 4, pack 2 x 4, pack 3 x 4, pack 4 x 4, pack 5 x 4 and pack 6 x 4) AND 2 cards per pack = 12 cards]

The website also lists the other 4, then the other 4 foil cards and then the
ODI cards. Are these the ones available at the newsagents & BP and do they
come in packets (and if so, how many to a pack? And how many packets to a
box?).
- CORRECT AVAILABLE AT BP/NEWSAGENTS
- 24 IN AN INNER BOX

Also noted they plan to do it for the next 3-4 years [my note: but I guess that depends on sales, etc.]

Support the product, I guess, if you want it to survive.

No probs. Hughes is a dead set star on the rise. If CA stuff him up, much like they did to Slater, I will storm CA Offices and give them something to think about.

I'll try and find out how much was produced and the gold cards. More stock is being sent out. Being an Ashes CA / CE authorised released, I'd assume there is a bit of it to come out. And it's aimed at kids. But will try and find out nonetheless.

Cant find any cards/bats anywhere... i hope they start to find a few more places... frustrating

I found the safeway ones.
yeah not bad, really thick cards.

the cricket bats are really cute, but what to do with them? there should of been a display stand of some sort
so you can stick the bats in.
