Forgive me if I am out of line but I have a gripe to get off my chest in regards to OCT users etc is it just the odd one or two but I am sick of people advertising items for sale or trade and even want and you send them a reply or a PM whichever is appropriate and you don't get an answer her's a news flash courtesy is not dead and buried if somebody takes the time to help you show some courtesy and reply. I know some of you do the right thing but I am finding it frustrating to the point where I soon won't waste my time reponding to posts and it could be you missing out on a card or money. Does anybody agree or am I being too critical this is not a personal dig at anybody your thoughts guys and girls?

I agree with you, some people, not only on this forum, have very bad manners. When you send them a PM to show interest on an item, they don't respond because they are not interested. But what they should do is politely decline the offer.

Im fairly new and havent experienced it yet, but yeah id rather someone tell me nah not interested instead of me sending 5 messages and keep asking.

I recently saw a posting advertising to sell some cards so I sent them a PM...no answer I saw later he had a trade in progress selling the card I showed interest in so I sent a PM to the proposed buyer seeing if he wanted to sell it and again no answer from him either

yeah i get this from time to time...communcation is a big factor on this board.

thats correct but more to the point is why start the post if you dont want to communicate it takes two parties to do a deal/trade and it takes two to communicate if you want a deal done then communicate

I agree with you mate. Except I am angry that my past 2 deals as a seller the buyer, after several pm's, have contacted me 3 weeks later and said card not needed anymore sorry. Also the current 2 deals I have as a seller the 2 buyers have both said sorry but i have some poor excuse I will pay in 2 weeks:mad:.

In my business I have to do a quote which is only valid for a limited time when a buyer proposes a deal tell them a time frame that the deal is good for as long as both parties know what is going on something can be sorted out and if they are not genuine they wont waste your time

If you are replying to a thread and you get no reply then it is a bit rude but mistakes are bound to happen !
Maybe the thread stated please reply in the thread. As for offers, if someone sends me a ridiculous offer then I sometimes don't reply (my mum said if you have nothing nice to say then say nothing) there are low offers and then there are just rude ones.
As for people who ask me about a card I have just purchased or traded, then I will ignore it because if it was for sale or trade then it would be listed up ;) not directed at anyone particular :)

i bought a card the other week and advised the seller i couldnt pay for a week. i also told them that i would send them a set of cards off of their wantlist if they held it.
The seller was more than happy with this, i think its something that needs to be arranged before a thread etc is done.

I would be more than happy to do that but this was all after they agreed to a thread.

somtimes people (myself included)will make a ridiculous offer albeit through lack of knowledge or lack of money but I would rather they comeback and say thanks for the offer but no thanks you may not make a sale today but next week they might buy a big one off you (the old saying be careful of whose toes you tread on today because they may be attached to the arse you have to kiss tomorrow) but point taken

I don't see how card collecting can be added alongside that quote ! yelling abuse from your car window perhaps ;) and the MAYBE in the future sale ? I would never rely on that way of thinking. promises are often broken because it is a hobby and sadly I have been guilty of that myself when life and bills get in the way of buying the cards I would like
It is always going to be difficult at times with collectors having different ideas on card values and what we consider to be good cards ! each person is different . It makes the hobby fun.
As for not knowing what a card is worth and some members offering ridiculous prices, there is a thread here for getting book value, there is ebay where you can search completed listings and then there is the price the buyer wants to pay and what the seller wants... We all deserve a pat on the back for making it through all the hurdles that collecting throws us at times

The important factor to all this simply is; communication is not hard to do effectively. I have not had a problem in any of my dealings, perhaps I over communicate.. lol. But, if i am the buyer I always advise of a payment date. And if I am a seller I always ask for the payment date. Things can happen to change these, but one quick message makes it not even a problem. Just communicate and you and your buyers/sellers will be happy and eager to do further trades. I have received ridiculous offers in the past, but still reply even if it's with " haha, are you kidding?!"

I can't think of any trouble I have had on this site, but on a couple others I have had people offer me a card and then when I PM them about it, I get no response. Some time goes by, and then suddenly I'll get a PM from the same person on a different site asking if I have interest in the card, and of course I say yes, and then I get no reply. It's swell.

The point I was referring to was as I stated I myself have been guilty of offering low prices due to lack of funds and was rudely dealt with but as I knew it was a ridiculous offer I did not take offense but now I have come into the big fat folding stuff and am looking to buy some higher priced cards I will be a bit choosy whom I choose to deal with. would also like to know where that thread can be found
